(ii) Sedative, analgesic and anti-epileptic: Bupleurum crude saponins and sapogenin A have obvious sedative effects and can prolong the sleep time of mice. It also has a significant analgesic effect on experimental pain in mice.

Used for symptoms such as alternating chills and fever, colds and fevers, etc. For the treatment of evil in Shaoyang and alternating cold and heat, it is often used together with Scutellaria baicalensis and Pinellia ternata; for the treatment of cold and fever, it is used in combination with Pueraria lobata, Gypsum and Scutellaria baicalensis.
