Paranoid personality disorder

Paranoid personality disorder

In our experience, there must have been some paranoid people. Such people are very stubborn and have their own thinking habits. Once they form their own ideas, it is difficult for them to communicate with others. They will insist on their own opinions even if their practices are wrong. Some serious cases are actually paranoid personality disorder. For this type of people, we need to understand their characteristics and know how to approach them correctly.

Paranoid personality disorder is a type of personality disorder. The number of people with paranoid personality disorder in the general population is unknown. They rarely seek help from doctors. If their spouse or colleagues accompany them to treatment, they often adopt a denial or defensive attitude, making it difficult for therapists to discern the truth. They often find themselves trapped in unspeakable pain. According to survey data, the number of people with paranoid personality disorder accounts for 5.8% of the total number of people with psychological disorders. Since these people have little self-awareness and deny their own paranoid behavior, the actual situation may be higher than this proportion. When he realized his problem, it was difficult for him to change. When seeking help from others, it is difficult to maintain the guidance of others for long, and then you fall back into the previous state. I often try to find my way out of trouble in various ways, but it is difficult. The prevalence rate is 0.4% to 1.6%. More common in men.

Cause 1. Early loss of love. Living in a family environment where one is not trusted and is often rejected. Lack of maternal love is often blamed and denied. Children from single-parent families are more likely to have paranoid personalities! 2. Acquired setbacks: Suffering from continuous blows in life during growth, often encountering setbacks and failures. Such as being frequently insulted or wronged. 3. Self-demanding: The self-demand standards are extremely high, which constitutes a sharp contradiction with certain defects in oneself. But he never openly admits some of his own shortcomings. For example, if you are short, not good-looking, or have no outstanding talents, in fact, deep down you are feeling inferior because of this. 4. Abnormal situations Certain abnormal situations can also make people paranoid. For example, people without academic qualifications hate others talking about their academic qualifications; people with poor financial conditions avoid talking about financial income issues; children from single-parent families are afraid of others knowing about their family situation.

Clinical manifestations usually begin in early years, and once this type of deviant personality is formed, it is constant and difficult to change. His intelligence is not low, but some aspects of his personality are very prominent and overdeveloped, and he lacks correct judgment of his own personality defects. They are stubborn, sensitive, suspicious, overly vigilant, narrow-minded, and jealous; they have too high self-esteem, feel that they are overly important, tend to shirk responsibility, refuse to accept criticism, are overly sensitive to setbacks and failures, and if questioned will argue, sophistry, or even impulsive attacks and bellicosity; they often have certain overvalued ideas and feel insecure, unhappy, and lack a sense of humor; such people are often on guard and in a state of tension, looking for grounds for suspicion and prejudice, distorting the neutral or well-intentioned actions of others and adopting hostility and contempt, lacking a correct evaluation of the context of events; and are prone to pathological jealousy. Such people are generally self-harmonious and will not actively or passively seek medical help. They usually appear in petition offices or in forensic psychiatric evaluations.
