【Medicinal Part】

It is the root of Umbelliferae plants such as Bupleurum chinense and Bupleurum chinense.

【Ingredients】

The root of Bupleurum chinense contains volatile oil, bupleurol, oleic acid, linolenic acid, palmitic acid, stearic acid, lignoceric acid, glucose and saponins. Saponins include bupleurosaponins a, c, d, bupleurogenin F, E, G, and longifoliin. There are also reports that saikoside, a general term for multiple glycosides, is isolated from roots and seeds. In addition, the roots contain α-spinasterol, Δ7-stigmasterol, Δ22-stigmasterol, stigmasterol, adonitol, and angelica dahurica. The stems and leaves contain rutin. The fruit contains 11.2% oil, including coriander acid, trans-coriander acid and linalool.

The root of Bupleurum chinense contains saponins, fatty oil, volatile oil and bupleurum alcohol. The stems and leaves contain rutin.

Golden Bupleurum contains rutin, ribitol, nonaconitone, hexacosanol, α-pineasterol, flavonols, saponins, biotin, ascorbic acid, carotene, etc. During the flowering and fruiting period, quercetin, isoquercetin, rutin, isorhamnetin and isorhamnetin-3-rutinoside can be obtained from flowers, leaves and stems.

The root of Bupleurum chinense contains saposhnikovia glycoside, α-spinasterol, sucrose and polyacetylene compounds.

【Function and indications】

Reconcile the exterior and interior, soothe the liver, and raise the yang. It is used to treat alternating chills and fever, chest fullness and flank pain, bitter taste in the mouth and deafness, headache and dizziness, malaria, diarrhea and prolapse of the rectum, irregular menstruation, and uterine prolapse.

① "Ben Jing": "It is used to treat qi stagnation in the stomach, intestines and stomach, food accumulation, cold and heat evil qi, and to remove the old and bring in the new."

② "Bie Lu": "It can eliminate the fever and restlessness in the heart caused by cold, all kinds of phlegm and heat, evil in the chest, wandering qi between the five internal organs, stagnation in the large intestine, swelling, and dampness and cramps. It can also be used as a bath soup."

③ "Medicinal Properties": "It can treat pain in joints caused by heat, heat, pain in shoulders and back, promote blood circulation, fatigue and emaciation; it can help to relieve gas and digestion, and it can treat seasonal diseases with internal and external heat. It can be boiled and taken alone."
