What to do if there are air bubbles in the lungs

The lungs are the organs that exchange gases between the human body and the outside world. The human body inhales oxygen into the lungs, and then transports it to various parts of the body through the alveoli in the lungs. The lungs expel carbon dioxide produced in the body through the respiratory tract, but some people find that their alveoli are different from those of ordinary people. If bullae appear in the lungs, this is a very serious disease and you should go to the hospital for treatment in time. Let’s take a look at what to do if there are air bubbles in the lungs?

If it is bullous lungs, this disease is more serious. You need to pay attention to rest, abstain from smoking and drinking, avoid spicy food, strengthen immunity, prevent colds, and pay attention to oxygen inhalation.

Generally, there is no need to worry about any symptoms and single hypertrophic blisters. The causes of their formation are related to daily colds, stimulation, smoking, drinking, etc.

Alveoli (bubbles) are caused by inflammation of the small bronchi in the lungs, which leads to mucosal edema and partial obstruction of the lumen. Air entering the alveoli is difficult to be discharged, which increases the pressure in the alveoli. At the same time, inflammation of the lung tissue causes the disappearance of collateral breathing between alveoli, and the alveolar septa rupture, forming huge air-filled sacs called bullae. Bullae are often secondary to other diseases, and are common in children with pneumonia. In cases of lung abscess, bullae are mostly single but can also be multiple.

Bullae secondary to pulmonary tuberculosis are mostly solitary. Bullae secondary to emphysema are often multiple. Bullae should be treated actively because they can easily rupture on their own, causing spontaneous pneumothorax, compressing lung tissue and causing breathing difficulties, and may even cause tension pneumothorax, which is extremely life-threatening. Bullae often rupture repeatedly, causing spontaneous pneumothorax and secondary infection to form empyema. Bullae can continue to expand to form huge bullae, occupying one side of the chest cavity and compressing the lung, causing lung collapse and producing dyspnea, cyanosis, and hypoxemia. In severe cases, patients lose their ability to work and eventually develop pulmonary heart disease. Therefore, bullae must be treated actively.

However, surgical thoracotomy and lobectomy of the lung or segmental resection are often performed clinically. Interventional methods for treating bullae are characterized by less trauma (the small puncture needle hole is the same size as the needle hole for normal injection), less pain, shorter postoperative recovery period, and lower cost.
