How to take Chinese medicine

Nowadays, many Chinese herbal decoctions have long-lasting effects, so many people choose to use these methods to treat their diseases. One of the main core methods of treating diseases with Chinese medicine is to boil it into soup. It has the advantages of fast absorption, easy efficacy, and convenient dosage adjustment. Well, for traditional Chinese medicine, decocting and taking medicine are an indispensable aspect. How should we decoct and take medicine correctly to have a significant impact on the efficacy of the medicine?

First of all, the first aspect is how to choose the decocting tools before decocting?

It’s best to use a casserole. Ceramic pots, enamel, and stainless steel are also acceptable, but avoid using aluminum pots, iron pots, copper pots, pots with grease, and other metal utensils. Because metal utensils such as aluminum, iron and copper will react chemically with certain ingredients in traditional Chinese medicine, causing adverse effects on the human body after taking it.

The second aspect is whether Chinese herbal medicines need to be cleaned? Generally not necessary. Although many Chinese herbal medicines may appear gray or black on the surface, they have actually been processed before delivery, so they generally do not need to be cleaned before decocting. If you feel that the herbs are really gritty, you can rinse them quickly with water, but avoid soaking them to prevent the loss of some water-soluble components and the washing away of some small seed-like herbs (such as plantain). The third aspect is whether it is necessary to soak the medicine before decocting it? need. Soaking the slices in cold water for about half an hour before decocting can allow the water-soluble ingredients to be separated into the decoction and also increase the concentration of the decoction.

When we take Chinese medicine, it is divided into summer and winter. If you take Chinese medicine in winter, you can actually use some warm water to soak the medicine, so that the decoction time will be shorter. If we soak it with boiling water, the main ingredients of the Chinese medicine may be lost. These are all aspects that we should pay attention to when taking medicine.
