Solar water cannot be drunk!

The instructions for use of solar energy mention that it needs to be cleaned, inspected and disinfected every 2-3 years. At the same time, the inside of the vacuum tube should also be cleaned to prevent scale from forming. Therefore, the water from solar energy cannot be drunk and can only be used as daily cleaning water.

Solar water heaters use collector tubes to convert solar energy into thermal energy. At the same time, they use the principle that hot water floats and cold water sinks to create microcirculation in the water in the solar energy, so that the temperature of the hot water is consistent.

The characteristics of solar water heaters are good system insulation, large heat storage capacity, large amount of hot water produced, environmental protection, and the ability to provide hot water for multiple people. But is the water from solar energy drinkable?

Characteristics of water in solar energy

1. Water temperature

The water temperature in solar energy is related to the intensity and duration of sunshine. Generally, the water temperature ranges from 30 to 70 degrees Celsius. Although it can reach 100 degrees Celsius in theory, the temperature will be controlled below 60 degrees Celsius when designing solar energy, taking into account the harm of high temperature to the water tank.

This temperature does not reach the level of killing bacteria, and is also suitable for bacterial reproduction, so solar water is not suitable for drinking.

2. Secondary water storage

The water in the solar energy belongs to the secondary storage water. After a period of storage and heating, the residual chlorine in the tap water cannot play a disinfecting role. At the same time, because the water in the water tank cannot flow frequently, it contains more impurities, rust and bacteria, and is not suitable for drinking and cooking.

3. Aged water and multiple heating

In most cases, the water in solar energy is stale and has been heated multiple times. The water from the previous day or a few days has not been used up, and tap water is added again. Repeated heating will easily cause dirt to accumulate and increase harmful substances. In particular, the salt in it can easily produce nitrite under the action of bacteria, which is harmful to health.

4. Water quality

The water in the water tank is heated multiple times and is in contact with the coating, water pipes, rubber hoses, etc. inside the water tank for a long time, which can easily release some harmful substances. The country classifies water pipes into those that can be used for drinking and those that cannot. It is possible that some water pipes used in solar energy systems do not belong to the category of water pipes that can be used for drinking. In this way, solar-powered water will be more harmful to health.
