What to do if your two-year-old baby doesn't poop?

When the baby is two years old, his body has begun to develop slowly and his demand for food has also increased. However, the gastrointestinal function of babies at this age is not perfect, so they are easily affected by various factors, causing constipation in two-year-old babies. It is easiest to treat in the early stages. Since the disease has no self-healing ability, it will only become more serious if allowed to develop, so every parent must pay more attention.

The following reasons can easily cause constipation in children:

(1) Genetic factors: If the mother has a constipation habit, the child is likely to suffer from constipation.

(2) Dietary factors: When food intake is insufficient, too little feces are formed, which cannot stimulate the rectal wall to cause a defecation reflex, causing starvation constipation; when the food ingredients are inappropriate, such as consuming too much high-protein (meat) food and insufficient intake of fiber-containing vegetables and fruits; when drinking less water, the stool is prone to dryness, causing constipation.

(3) Failure to develop the habit of regular bowel movements. If babies do not develop the habit of regular bowel movements and do not form a conditioned defecation reflex in their early years, the intestinal muscles may become loose and weak, leading to constipation.

(4) Psychological factors: When the environment changes, living habits suddenly change, or there is strong mental stimulation, the child's bowel movements may change, causing temporary constipation.

(5) Disease: Some children suffer from rectal nerve defects, which weaken the peristalsis of the intestinal smooth muscle and prevent the anal sphincter from relaxing, affecting defecation and causing constipation. Anal stenosis and anal fissure may also cause constipation in children.

Suggestions:

1. Abdominal massage: The mother spreads out her hands fully, covers the baby's abdomen with the navel as the center, and massages from the lower right to the upper right, upper left, and lower left, but the palms do not slide on the baby's skin. 5 minutes each time, once a day. This not only speeds up the baby's intestinal peristalsis and promotes defecation, but also helps digestion.

2. Use the enema method. Cut open the tip of the enema. If there are burrs on the tube mouth, make sure to smooth it out. Squeeze out a little medicine to lubricate the tube mouth to avoid piercing the child's anus. Let the child lie on his side, insert the tube of the suppository into his anus, gently squeeze the plastic bag to allow the liquid to spray into the anus, then pull out the empty shell of the suppository, and clamp a clean tissue at the baby's anus to prevent the liquid from overflowing and staining clothes or sheets. This method stimulates intestinal peristalsis and softens stool to achieve the best laxative effect.

3. Soap bar method: Wash your hands and cut the soap into a conical soap bar about 3 cm long and as thick as a pencil. Moisten the soap bar with a little water and then slowly insert it into the child's anus. Also, try to keep the soap bar in the anus for a longer period of time to fully stimulate the peristalsis of the anus.

4. Glycerin suppository method: The mother washes her hands, then opens the wrapping paper of the conical glycerin suppository, slowly inserts it into the baby's anus, and then gently presses the anus, trying to wait as long as possible to allow the glycerin suppository to fully melt before defecation.
