Does O-type blood attract mosquitoes? What is the truth?

It is said that people with type B blood are more likely to attract mosquitoes, but a study by the School of Tropical Medicine at the University of Liverpool in the UK found a different answer: among all blood types, people with type O blood are the most likely to attract mosquitoes.

There are many factors that cause mosquito bites. For example, you may be more susceptible to bites if you have more lactic acid in your sweat. Blood type is also an important factor. Dr Martin Donnelly of the School of Tropical Medicine explained: "Whether or not you get bit by a mosquito depends on genetics, smell and smell. 85% of the reason why mosquitoes like you is due to genetics."

Studies have shown that people with type O blood are twice as likely to be bitten as those with type B blood, while people with type A blood are less likely to be bitten than those with type B blood.

Researchers say that mosquitoes bite because of the sugary substances in the blood. Because the blood contains cholesterol and vitamin B that make mosquito eggs mature, the mosquito's reproductive ability is improved after the bite.

In addition, people who like to sweat have increased acidity in their blood, and the sweat they excrete makes the lactic acid level on the body surface higher, which will also attract mosquitoes.

The human body produces about 500 different volatile chemicals that float in the air around the skin and serve as "antennas" for mosquitoes to find their targets.

Not only that, when a mosquito bites blood, it will also inject saliva into the human body, preventing the blood from clotting immediately. Stimulation by substances such as salivary proteins can cause itching.

People with sensitive immune systems may see the bite as a threat and overreact, causing redness and localized swelling of the skin.
