What causes pityriasis simplex? It may be malnutrition

Simple pityriasis is more common in children. Malnutrition or lack of vitamins in the body can cause the disease. Some patients have special physical constitutions, so exposure to sunlight can also induce the disease.

Malnutrition

Malnutrition in a broad sense should include both undernutrition or deficiency and overnutrition. Here we only discuss the former. Malnutrition is often secondary to medical and surgical causes, such as chronic diarrhea, short bowel syndrome, and malabsorptive disorders.

Vitamin deficiency

Vitamins are essential to the health of each of us. Once the human body lacks vitamins, the corresponding metabolic reactions will have problems, resulting in vitamin deficiency. Lack of vitamins will cause our body's metabolism to lose balance, immunity to decline, and various diseases and viruses will take advantage of the opportunity to invade.

Sunlight exposure

In the spring, as sunlight increases and people engage in more outdoor activities, people with dry skin or certain special physical conditions may develop this disease.

Pathogenesis

The pathogenesis is unclear. It is currently believed to be a nonspecific dermatitis. Malnutrition or vitamin deficiency, dry skin, and exposure to sunlight can cause the disease.

Traditional Chinese medicine believes that this disease is caused by wind-heat stagnation in the lungs, which rises with the yin energy, or by improper diet, endogenous parasites, and dysfunction of the spleen.

It is more common in preschool boys and girls, and is prone to occur on the face, but can also occur on the trunk and limbs; the lesions vary in size, and are white or light red patches with unclear boundaries, a small amount of pityriasis scales, and after the lesions subside, pale white hypopigmented patches remain; there are no subjective symptoms; oval-shaped pityrosporum fungi can be found in some pityriasis scales under microscopic examination.
