How to treat chapped lips? How to effectively treat chapped lips?

Many people suffer from chapped lips in spring and winter. Because the air is drier in winter and the body's water is not effectively replenished, chapped lips will occur. So what should you do if you have chapped lips?

Dry lips should be supplemented with vitamins in time

The most common type of dry lips starts from the corners of the mouth. This is a phenomenon of vitamin deficiency. You should eat a variety of foods and not be picky eaters, especially eat more fruits and vegetables. People who are busy at work should buy some vitamin tablets and carry them with them at all times. In addition to vitamin deficiency, another reason for dry lips is lack of water or dry mouth due to talking too much. At this time, some waste skin will accumulate at the corners of the mouth and where the lips merge. Once this happens, you should drink water in time, wash your lips, and apply a thick layer of lipstick on your lips before going to bed at night. The situation will improve in a few days.

Do not moisten your lips with saliva

Many people like to make a mistake. When their lips are dry, they lick their lips or wet their lips with saliva, thinking that this will keep their lips away from the problem of dryness. Little do people know that this habit is harmful to the skin around the lips.

Licking your lips during the dry winter months can cause two problems. First, it will cause inflammation of the corners of the lips. When you lick your lips with your tongue, saliva is left on your lips. Saliva contains a variety of enzymes that can help digestion. Two of these enzymes, amylase and maltase, can cause inflammation at the corners of the lips. This is because the two enzymes remaining on the lips are equivalent to "digesting the skin."

Another consequence of lip licking is the more common irritant dermatitis, which is also caused by saliva. Experts explain that, contrary to what people imagine, licking your lips does not make them moist. Because when you lick your lips with your tongue, the moisture brought by it will evaporate, and when it evaporates, it takes away the moisture that is already tight on the lips, making the lips feel even drier. Then it becomes a vicious cycle where the lips become drier and you lick them more, and the more you lick, the drier they become, eventually causing eczema-like consequences on the lips. However, this type of "eczema" is not "wet" but "dry", which will make the skin at the corners of the mouth become rough and appear a different color from the surrounding skin.

Massage lips to help absorb

If your lips still feel dry after taking vitamin supplements, it is related to the nature of your skin, so you should focus on replenishing moisture and oil, and it is best to massage your lips frequently. Massaging the lips is not difficult and does not take much time. Just apply a layer of moisturizer on your lips every morning and before going to bed at night. Then gently massage with your fingers to help promote blood circulation, allow the lips to get oxygen, increase nutrition, and allow the moisturizer to quickly reach the subcutaneous tissue of the lips. Massage for a few times and wipe it off with paper, then apply a layer of colorless lip balm to moisturize your lips.
