Can moxibustion be used to treat tendonitis?

Speaking of moxibustion, it is now accepted by more and more people. You should know that this treatment method has fewer side effects and less pain. More importantly, the effect is very good. It uses the mild heat of the fire and the action of the medicine to treat various diseases through the conduction of meridians, and tenosynovitis is one of them. Due to various reasons, there are quite a few people who have tendon troubles nowadays. Generally, it is due to excessive local labor and injury to the tendons and bones. Let's talk about the question of whether moxibustion can be used for tenosynovitis.

Can moxibustion be used to treat tendonitis? Of course you can. Let’s talk about using the ancient method of moxibustion to treat wrist tenosynovitis and which acupoints are suitable for the treatment.

1. Ashi Point

This point is located at the point where pain occurs, which is what people often say "where there is pain there is the point". Wherever there is pain, there is the Ashi point. The place where you feel pain near the knee is the point that needs moxibustion. Its function is to relieve pain.

2. Lieque Point

This point is located on the radial edge of the forearm, above the radial styloid process, 1.5 inches above the transverse wrist crease, between the brachioradialis and extensor pollicis longus tendons. It has the effects of clearing the lungs and relieving cough, dispersing evil spirits, regulating meridians.

3. Yangxi Point

This point is located on the radial side of the wrist, in the depression between the extensor pollicis brevis tendon and the extensor pollicis longus tendon; with the thumb upturned, on the radial side of the wrist, between the two tendons (extensor pollicis longus tendon and extensor pollicis brevis tendon), on the radial side of the wrist joint. It is mainly used to clear the Yangming meridian, promote menstruation and calm the mind, relax muscles and tendons.

4. Yuji Point

Yuji acupoint, which belongs to the hand Taiyin lung meridian, is located on the radial side of the midpoint of the first metacarpal bone, at the junction of the red and white flesh. It has the abductor pollicis brevis and the opponens thumb muscles. The blood vessels serve as branches of the thumb vein, and are distributed with mixed branches of the lateral forearm cutaneous nerve and the superficial branch of the radial nerve. The main effects are: clearing away lung qi, clearing away heat and relieving sore throat.

5. Hegu Point

Hegu point is located at the base of the palm on the back of the hand, in the depression between the first and second metacarpal bones. There is one point on each hand. It has the effects of calming the mind, promoting blood circulation, regulating qi and relieving pain.

6. Neiguan Point

The Neiguan point is located on the inner side of the arm, 2 inches above the center of the wrist joint transverse line, with one point on each arm. It plays an important role in nourishing the heart and calming the mind, regulating qi and tranquilizing the heart.

7. Daling Point

Daling point is located at the midpoint of the transverse wrist crease, between the palmaris longus tendon and the radial flexor carpi tendon. Drying dampness and venting anger can relieve wrist joint pain.

If you apply moxibustion on the Ashi point and other 2-3 acupoints mentioned above every day, there will be certain effects. During moxibustion, do not catch cold or be exposed to wind. Do not do moxibustion after drinking or having a full meal. Do not do moxibustion when sweating profusely. Pay attention to drinking more warm water during moxibustion to avoid getting angry.
