Chinese medicine is profound and extensive. Its powerful feature is that it can cure diseases without entering your body. Acupuncture is a relatively developed branch of Chinese medicine. So what are the effects of portable moxibustion? 1. Warming the meridians and dispelling cold The normal life activities of the human body depend on the functions of Qi and blood. When Qi flows, blood flows; when Qi stops, blood stops. The circulation of Qi and blood in the meridians is entirely due to the push of "Qi". Various reasons, such as "cold causes qi to be contracted, heat causes qi to be rapid", can affect the circulation of blood and qi, leading to various diseases. When the qi is warm, the blood is smooth, and when the qi is cold, the blood is astringent. In other words, the circulation of qi and blood disperses when it encounters warmth, and condenses when it encounters cold. Therefore, Zhu Danxi said: "Blood flows when it encounters heat, and coagulates when it encounters cold." Therefore, all diseases characterized by stagnation of Qi and blood without symptoms of heat can be treated by warming the Qi. In the chapter of "Cijie Zhenxie" of "Lingshu", it says: "The blood in the veins coagulates and stays. If it is not regulated by fire, it cannot be taken out." "Lingshu Forbidden Foods" also says: "For those with sunken pulses, the blood in the veins is clogged in the middle and the blood is cold, so moxibustion is appropriate." Moxibustion uses its warm stimulation to warm the meridians and relieve arthritis. Through the warm stimulation of meridian acupoints by hot moxibustion, it is possible to warm the meridians and dispel cold, strengthen the circulation of qi and blood in the body, and achieve the purpose of clinical treatment. Therefore, moxibustion can be used to treat arthralgia, diarrhea, dysmenorrhea, cold stomachache and other diseases caused by poor blood circulation, stagnation and astringency, and the effect is very significant. 2. Promote Qi and unblock meridians Meridians are distributed throughout the human body, connecting the internal organs and the external muscles, bones and other tissues. In a normal body, Qi and blood circulate in the meridians in an orderly manner. If due to the invasion of external factors such as wind, cold, heat, dampness, dryness, and fire, the human body or local Qi and blood stagnates and the meridians are blocked, symptoms such as swelling and pain and a series of functional disorders may occur. At this time, moxibustion treatment of certain acupoints can harmonize Qi and blood, dredge the meridians, and balance the functions. It can be used clinically for sores, furunculosis, frostbite, urinary retention, infertility, sprains, etc., especially in surgery and traumatology. 3. Support Yang and consolidate the body Human life depends on Yang Qi as its foundation. If it is in the right place, people will live long, but if it is not in the right place, people will die young. Therefore, when Yang is sick, Yin will be strong, and strong Yin will cause cold and fainting. Or the vital energy will be weak and the pulse will be about to fall out. At this time, it is just as it says in "Su Wen·Jue Lun": "When Yang Qi declines below, it will cause cold and fainting." When Yang Qi is weak, Yin Qi becomes strong. If Yang Qi cannot flow to the hands and feet, the hands and feet will become cold. For any serious illness, weakened Yang Qi, separation of Yin and Yang, etc., using large moxibustion sticks and heavy moxibustion can eliminate the Yin and cold, restore Yang and save the patient. This is something that other acupoint stimulation therapies cannot achieve. The Song Dynasty's "Acupuncture and Moxibustion for Life" also mentioned: "Anyone who has drowned can be saved after one night. Take off the dead person's clothes and moxibustion the navel will bring him back to life." "Treatise on Febrile Diseases" points out: "In Shaoyin disease, patients have vomiting and diarrhea, cold hands and feet...if the pulse is weak, moxibustion should be applied to Shaoyin seven times." "If there is diarrhea, cold hands and feet, and irritability, moxibustion the Jueyin meridian. If there is no pulse, moxibustion should be applied." It indicates that for critically ill patients with Yang Qi deficiency such as vomiting, diarrhea, cold hands and feet, weak pulse, etc., if large moxa cones are used for heavy moxibustion on Guanyuan, Shenque and other acupoints, since moxa leaves have a pure Yang nature and fire is originally Yang, the two Yangs can often play the role of supporting Yang and consolidating deficiency, restoring Yang and rescuing the patient from critical illness. It is often used in clinical practice for emergency treatment of stroke, acute abdominal pain, vomiting and diarrhea, dysentery and other emergencies.
