What to do with facial hemiplegia? Teach you how to deal with it in different stages

Facial hemiplegia will make it impossible for people to communicate normally with others. Generally speaking, when you find symptoms of hemiplegia on your face, you can use the following methods to deal with it.

1. Acute treatment

① Use corticosteroids as soon as possible, intravenous injection of dexamethasone 10-15 mg/day for 7-10 days; or take prednisone, the initial dose is 1 mg/day per kilogram of body weight, taken all at once or divided into 2 doses, for 5 consecutive days, and gradually reduce the dose within the next week.

② For those caused by herpes zoster, take the antiviral drug acyclovir (5 mg/kg body weight, 3 times a day) orally for 7-10 days.

③Physical therapy: infrared irradiation near the stylomastoid foramen or ultrashort wave diathermy therapy can be used.

④ If the palpebral fissure cannot be closed, use eye ointment, eye patch, or suture to protect the cornea according to the situation.

2. Traditional Chinese Medicine Treatment

Traditional Chinese medicine believes that facial nerve paralysis is mostly caused by wind and cold invasion, vascular spasm, ischemia, edema and adhesion of facial nerve tissue. The specific analysis of traditional Chinese medicine treatment of facial nerve paralysis is as follows:

① Use Astragalus to strengthen the exterior and improve the body's immunity; cinnamon twig and Evodia rutaecarpa warm the meridians and dilate facial blood vessels.

② Salvia miltiorrhiza, red peony root, Ligusticum chuanxiong, Pueraria root, Curcuma zedoaria, and Turmeric promote blood circulation and improve microcirculation.

③ Turmeric and Curcuma zedoaria can fight inflammation and reduce edema; burdock can prevent nerve fiber degeneration.

④Scorpions can promote the release of acetylcholine to increase muscle strength and muscle tension. Double flower, forsythia and scutellaria baicalensis can clear away heat, detoxify and resist bacteria and viruses.

Combining the above medications, for long-term facial nerve paralysis, promoting blood circulation can relieve adhesions, eliminate edema, reduce compression, and alleviate nerve fiber degeneration.

3. Treatment during the recovery period:

① Exercise: According to the condition of the disease, perform passive or active exercise of facial muscles.

②Physical therapy: iodine infiltration therapy can also be used.

③Acupuncture: can be helpful.
