What is the difference between seborrheic dermatitis and seborrheic alopecia

Seborrheic dermatitis and seborrheic alopecia are two common clinical diseases. In life, many people do not particularly understand the difference between these two diseases. So, what is the difference between seborrheic dermatitis and seborrheic alopecia?

Seborrheic alopecia:

Seborrheic alopecia is also called androgenic alopecia. This disease is more common in men, and is characterized by excessive oil secretion on the forehead, hair loss and gradual thinning. In severe cases, the entire forehead may lose hair, causing baldness and affecting beauty. Women can also have it, mainly with thinning hair on the top of the head, but normal hair on the sides and hairline. This type of hair loss develops gradually and occurs at different times. There is a certain family history. It is not closely related to bad living habits, but is mainly due to high levels of androgen or the body's sensitivity to the effects of this hormone. Of course, people who are nervous and stressed are more likely to get this disease, and it develops faster.

Seborrheic dermatitis

Typical skin lesions are dark yellow-red macules, patches or maculopapules with clear edges, covered with greasy scales or crusts. Due to the different locations of the lesions, the clinical manifestations vary slightly; the rash is prone to occur in areas with abundant sebaceous glands such as the scalp, eyebrows, eyelids, nose and sides, behind the ears, neck, chest and upper back interscapular area, armpits, groin, and umbilicus; the subjective symptoms are varying degrees of itching, and severe cases may also cause hair loss.
