Children at high risk of cerebral palsy, these four symptoms are the most typical

Cerebral palsy is actually a very common disease. Once it occurs in infants and young children, parents should pay more attention. So, what are the symptoms of children at high risk of cerebral palsy?

(1) Movement disorders:

Children with cerebral palsy have lower motor skills than normal children of the same age, and poor motor self-control. Those with mild impairments only have slightly inflexible or clumsy movements of the hands and feet. Those with severe impairments cannot grasp things with their hands or walk with their feet. Some cannot even turn over, sit up, stand, or chew and swallow normally.

(2) Postural disorders:

Children with cerebral palsy have abnormal body postures, poor posture stability, awkward postures when moving or still, and asymmetry between the left and right sides. In some severe cases, the head is often not in the vertical center position like that of normal children, but tends to lean to one side, or sway left and right, front and back.

(3) Intellectual Disability:

Among all children with cerebral palsy, about 1/4 have normal intelligence, about 1/2 have mild or moderate intellectual disabilities, and about 1/4 have severe intellectual disabilities.

(4) Language barriers:

Most children with cerebral palsy may have varying degrees of language disorders, some of which may present as difficulty in expressing themselves or forming words, some as unclear pronunciation or stuttering, and some as aphasia, that is, they can understand other people's language but cannot speak themselves. This situation is particularly common in children with athetoid cerebral palsy.
