The isolated epidiolesterol has an anti-tumor effect on Ehrlich ascites carcinoma in mice; the cyclic peptide compounds isolated from the n-butanol extract of Aster root have anti-tumor activity against S180. [Usage and Dosage]: Take orally as decoction, 0.5 to 3 qian; or make into pills or powder. Take 6-9 grams of Chinese medicine, decocted in water. Mongolian medicine is mostly in the form of pills and powders.

Bronchial adenocarcinoma: 30g each of Aster tataricus, Lithospermum officinale, and Lithospermum officinale, 15g of Taraxacum officinale, 9g each of stir-fried Gardenia jasminoides and Vaccaria segetalis, 6g each of Adenophora radix, Ophiopogon japonicus, Rehmannia glutinosa, Stemona tuber, Fritillaria thunbergii, and Sanguisorba officinalis, decocted in water three times and taken in divided doses. Regulates the lungs and eliminates phlegm. Used for cough caused by phlegm: 9 grams each of Aster tataricus, Platycodon grandiflorum, Radix Sophorae Flavescentis, and Stemona bulbus, 6 grams each of dried tangerine peel and Schizonepeta tenuifolia, and 4.5 grams of licorice root, cut into pieces, grind into antitussive powder.
