1. Balanitis: Non-infectious factors may cause itching of the glans and foreskin, including local trauma, friction, contraceptive drugs, soaps and detergents and other irritations. Local manifestations may include edema, erythema, erosion, exudation and even bleeding. If secondary bacterial infection occurs, it may become suppurative and form an ulcer. Patients with itchy glans and foreskin may experience significant pain and difficulty in movement. This condition is clinically called acute superficial balanitis.

2. Foreskin is too long or phimosis: The glans penis of those with too long foreskin is usually always wrapped in the foreskin and must be turned up by hand to be exposed; those with phimosis cannot turn up the foreskin to expose the glans penis even with the help of hands. In this case, smegma is more likely to accumulate in the foreskin and is difficult to remove. Therefore, patients with excessive foreskin or phimosis often experience itching of the glans penis and foreskin.
