What causes kidney stones and hematuria?

Urinating blood is very scary. When you urinate, you lower your head and pee out blood-like urine. It’s scary to think about it. So what causes hematuria?

Causes of blood in urine

There are generally many causes of hematuria, such as inflammation or infection of the reproductive and urinary systems, kidney stones, nephritis, urethral stones, etc. It is recommended that patients come to our hospital for a routine urine test, bacterial culture, B-ultrasound, etc.

Hematuria is common in the following diseases:

1. Urinary and reproductive system infections: such as cystitis, urethritis, prostatitis, etc.

2. Prostatic hyperplasia: In addition to tumors, stones and other diseases, benign prostatic hyperplasia is one of the important causes of hematuria.

3. Urinary system stones: characterized by hematuria accompanied by renal colic, or symptoms such as interrupted urination, difficulty urinating, and painful urination.

4. Renal tuberculosis: More than 90% of patients have hematuria, which is characterized by gradually increasing urgency, frequency and pain when urinating.

5. Kidney and urinary tract injury: Most patients have a history of lumbar or abdominal trauma, such as bruises, collisions, falls, etc.

6. Allergic purpura: This disease causes bleeding spots on the skin, gastrointestinal bleeding, and joint pain. Hematuria occurs 2 to 4 weeks after the appearance of bleeding spots on the skin.

7. Systemic diseases: Vitamin C and vitamin K deficiency, blood diseases such as leukemia and hemophilia can cause hematuria.

8. Drug-induced hematuria: Some drugs are harmful to the kidneys and can cause hematuria after taking them. Such as gentamicin, tetracycline, sulfonamides, kanamycin, etc.

9. Temporary hematuria: caused by drinking too little water. It will disappear quickly after drinking more water and diluting the urine.
