An old Chinese doctor teaches you how to interpret facial diagnosis and identify diseases by looking at eyebrows

As we all know, eyebrows are closely related to the health of the body. We can also notice in traditional paintings that the birthday star’s eyebrows are always very long, even hanging down to the cheeks. Although this may sound exaggerated, it also illustrates the relationship between eyebrows and health.

Eyebrow loss may indicate kidney disease

Eyebrows have a growth cycle, and normal eyebrows will fall off after a certain period of time. If eyebrows fall out frequently, we should be alert to kidney disease.

Traditional Chinese medicine believes that the thickness of eyebrows is related to the strength of a person's kidney qi and blood. Thick eyebrows indicate abundant Qi and blood, abundant kidney Qi, and a strong and healthy body; while thin and sparse eyebrows indicate deficient kidney Qi, and a weak and sickly body.

Of course, aging can also cause eyebrow loss. If the outer side of your eyebrows gradually fall out after the age of 40, there is no need to be nervous, as this is a symbol of natural aging. However, if your eyebrows start to fall out more frequently before the age of 40, it is a symbol of premature aging. In particular, if the outer one-third of the eyebrows are too sparse or falling off, it indicates that the kidney qi is weakened, and it is often caused by adrenal insufficiency, hypopituitarism or hypothyroidism.

In the early stages of leprosy, the outer 1/3 of the eyebrows may become thickened and the eyebrows may fall out. For people with vitiligo, the roots of the eyebrows will turn white first. For some patients with alopecia areata, their eyebrows may suddenly fall out overnight. Patients with nutritional deficiencies may also experience eyebrow loss. At the same time, taking anti-cancer or anti-metabolic drugs can also cause eyebrow loss.

Eyebrow discoloration may alert you to other diseases

Normal eyebrows are thick and black. If the eyebrows change color, it is a sign of illness. Eyebrow discoloration may indicate the following diseases.

(1) If eyebrows turn yellow and look burnt, it indicates lung deficiency and possible malnutrition.

(2) Dry eyebrows with straight tips indicate menstrual irregularities in women and neurological diseases in men.

(3) If a woman’s eyebrows are too thick and dark, it indicates hyperfunction of the adrenal cortex.

(4) Red eyebrows often indicate symptoms of fever.

It should be noted that some women use tweezers to pluck out stray eyebrows and trim them into a beautiful eyebrow shape for the sake of beauty. Doing so can lead to skin infections such as folliculitis, which is very bad for your health. Therefore, try to avoid artificial eyebrow plucking.

Eyebrow loss

People with thin, sparse and easily falling eyebrows are often those with weak qi and blood, and those who are frail and sickly. Such patients are prone to cold hands and feet, and their kidney qi is also weak. Patients with hypothyroidism and hypopituitarism often have eyebrow loss, especially the outer 1/3 of the eyebrows. In the early stages of the disease, leprosy patients experience thickening of the skin on the outer side of their eyebrows and loss of their eyebrows. Patients with alopecia areata may also experience eyebrow loss. Cancer, syphilis, and severe anemia may also cause eyebrow loss, and some anti-cancer or anti-metabolic drugs also have this side effect.

Drooping eyebrows

Most of them are caused by facial nerve paralysis. If one side of the eyebrow droops, it means that the facial nerve on that side is paralyzed, causing the eyebrow to be lower and unable to be lifted upwards. Some people have unilateral ptosis of the upper eyelid (such as myasthenia gravis), which causes the eyebrow on one side to appear higher.

Dull eyebrows

If the tips of the eyebrows are straight and dry, women may have irregular menstruation, while men are more likely to suffer from nervous system diseases. Some children or malnourished patients have yellow and dry eyebrows, which is also a sign of lung qi deficiency.
