How should gout patients recover and how should gout be treated?

Gout patients should eat more low-purine foods, less medium-purine foods, no high-purine foods, and be careful not to drink alcohol. So what else should gout patients pay attention to?

1. Maintain an ideal weight. If you are overweight or obese, you should lose weight. However, weight loss should be gradual, otherwise it may easily lead to ketosis or acute gout attacks.

2. Carbohydrates can promote the excretion of uric acid. Patients can eat rice, steamed buns, pasta, etc. that are rich in carbohydrates. Eat more high-potassium foods, such as bananas, broccoli, celery, etc. Potassium can reduce uric acid precipitation and help excrete uric acid from the body. Eat plenty of alkaline foods, such as kelp, cabbage, celery, cucumber, apples, tomatoes and other fruits.

3. Protein can be consumed in proportion to body weight. 0.8 to 1 gram of protein should be consumed for every 1 kilogram of body weight, and milk and eggs should be the main sources. If it is lean meat, chicken, duck, etc., it should be boiled and then eaten without soup. Avoid eating stewed or braised meat. Eat more kidney-strengthening foods. According to Chinese medicine, foods that strengthen the kidneys help excrete uric acid. You can drink the "Liuwei Dihuang" formula (rehmannia, cornus, yam, oriental water plantain, moutan bark, and poria) boiled in water on a daily basis to achieve the effect of nourishing yin and tonifying the kidneys.

4. Eat less fat, because fat can reduce the excretion of uric acid. For patients with gout and hyperlipidemia, fat intake should be controlled within 20% to 25% of total calories.

5. Drink more water and go to the toilet more often every day, and never hold your urine. You should drink 2000ml to 3000ml of water every day to promote the excretion of uric acid.

6. Eat less salt, which should be limited to 2 to 5 grams per day.

7. Avoid drinking! Alcohol can easily cause lactic acid to accumulate in the body, inhibit the excretion of uric acid, and easily induce gout.

8. Use less strong seasonings or spices. It is also suitable to eat more foods that promote qi and blood circulation, and relax muscles and tendons. For example, you can use mistletoe (5 cents per person) to make sweet soup, but do not add eggs, but you can add lotus seeds.

9. Limit purine intake. Purine is a component in the cell nucleus. Any food that contains cells contains purine, and animal foods contain more purine. Patients are forbidden to eat offal, bone marrow, seafood, fermented food, beans, etc.
