What is the difference between hydrocele and hernia?

There is a big difference between hydrocele and hernia. Hydrocele is a disease caused by bacterial infection of the testicles, but hernia mostly occurs in children, and the main symptom is enlarged testicles.

1. When there is hydrocele, the effusion is liquid, so the testicles float in the center of the liquid. Therefore, the testicles cannot be touched from around the lump, and it feels cystic. In the case of inguinal hernia, the testicles and the mass are separate, and the testicles can be felt from behind the mass, which feels like touching something substantial.

2. In addition to being differentiated from testicular hydrocele, inguinal hernia also needs to be differentiated from communicating hydrocele. The same radiolucency test for communicating hydrocele is also positive. But obviously, for children, identification is still difficult, and there are other ways.

3. The characteristic of communicating hydrocele is that after getting up in the morning, the patient will find that the lump will gradually increase in size. The same symptoms will occur when standing up from a lying or sitting position. Of course, the opposite is true when lying down. Another type is hydrocele, in which the lump moves when the testicles are pulled.
