What causes hair loss? These five reasons can cause hair loss

There are many factors that cause hair loss, which can be mainly divided into five categories: mental factors, drug factors, nutritional factors, autoimmune factors, and congenital factors. If you want to treat it well, you must find the cause and prescribe the right medicine.

1. Mental factors

Many patients often have a history of mental trauma, anxiety, and tension before the onset of the disease. If various examinations are conducted on the patient, often no evidence of the presence of any internal organ disease can be found.

2. Drug factors

Some chemotherapy drugs such as cyclophosphamide, fluorouracil, bleomycin, actinomycin D, vinblastine, colchicine, cephalosporin, cytarabine, etc. can cause hair loss. Poisoning by arsenic, metallic thallium, selenium, etc. can also cause severe hair loss.

3. Nutritional factors

Reducing food intake can slow down hair growth. If the protein content in food is reduced, hair growth can be inhibited even if the total amount of food is normal. Low-fat or fat-free diet can cause baldness, while excessive fat intake can cause excessive hypertrophy and hyperfunction of the sebaceous glands, affecting hair growth.

If you lack vitamin A, your hair will fall out, and if you lack vitamin B, your hair will become dry and lack color. A lack of zinc and iron can cause hair loss.

4. Autoimmune factors

Some studies have suggested that autoimmunity plays a certain role in the onset of alopecia areata. There is T cell infiltration in the lower part of the hair follicles in the alopecia areata area, and autoantibodies such as anti-thyroid and anti-gastric parietal cell antibodies can be detected in the serum of some patients.

5. Congenital factors

Congenital factors such as developmental defects, various syndromes, premature aging diseases, etc. cause complete loss or thinning of hair; poor development of hair follicles causes hair to be thin, soft and easy to break. Congenital alopecia is an autosomal dominant genetic disease, which is more common in the offspring of consanguineous marriages.
