How to prevent scarlet fever? These four steps are very important

Although scarlet fever is contagious, it can be prevented if we pay attention to it in our daily lives. If we want to prevent this disease, we should pay attention to disinfection and ventilation in our daily lives. If we find any symptoms of the disease, we should seek medical attention in time.

1

Prevention 1: Ventilation and disinfection: The child’s room should be ventilated frequently by opening windows, at least 3 times a day, each time for 15 minutes. The utensils used by the sick child should be boiled and disinfected; used handkerchiefs should be boiled in boiling water. After the child recovers, a thorough disinfection should be carried out and the toys and furniture should be scrubbed with soapy water or Lysol. If they cannot be scrubbed, they can be exposed to the sun outdoors for 1-2 hours.

2

Prevention 2 : Seek medical treatment promptly: During the high-incidence season, especially when there are scarlet fever patients around, parents should pay close attention to the physical condition of their children. Once a child has a fever or rash, he or she should be sent to the hospital for diagnosis and treatment in a timely manner;

3

Prevention three, treat and isolate patients: Children with the disease should stay in bed, receive hospital treatment or be isolated at home, and avoid contact with other children; other people should wear masks when contacting patients. Antibiotic treatment must be adequate and last for a sufficient period of time. After 24 hours of adequate antibiotic treatment, the patient is generally no longer contagious and can be released from isolation depending on the situation;

4

Prevention 4 : Strengthen school hygiene: During the scarlet fever epidemic, childcare institutions and primary schools should conduct morning and afternoon inspections carefully. If any suspicious persons are found, they should be asked to suspend classes, seek medical treatment and be isolated for treatment. Tableware that has come into contact with the sick child should be boiled and disinfected, and utensils, tables and chairs should be wiped and disinfected with Lysol. Ensure adequate indoor ventilation at least three times a day for 15 minutes each time. Classrooms, stationery, toys and tableware should be cleaned daily. Once a case is found, items that the case has come into contact with should be disinfected promptly.
