What to do if you lose your hair? Choosing the right treatment is key

In our lives, many people suffer from hair loss to varying degrees. We can alleviate the condition through diet therapy. In addition, some folk remedies and health products are also quite effective. You can try them. If necessary, you can take some medicine under the guidance of a doctor.

1) Diet therapy : For patients with mild symptoms, foods rich in protein and vitamins B2, B6, and E, including black beans, black sesame seeds, and multi-grain porridge, can help hair growth.

2) Folk remedies: The more famous folk remedies include rubbing the scalp with ginger (some patients report that it is effective), washing the hair with cypress leaves, washing the hair with baking soda, plum blossom needles (for alopecia areata), vitamin B6 cystine and cod liver oil. However, the effects vary from person to person, so they are called folk remedies. They can be tried in the early stages of hair loss, especially for patients with alopecia areata.

3) Health products and shampoos : Health products include multivitamins, saw palmetto and anti-hair loss shampoo, etc. Hair loss patients can try them, and the effects vary from person to person.

4) Drug treatment : Western medicine, the most famous are minoxidil and finasteride. These two are FDA-certified and have a good maintenance effect when used simultaneously, and the effect is quite significant. There are also some other drugs, including spironolactone, flutamide (for the treatment of male pattern baldness in women), etc. Traditional Chinese medicine also has blood-nourishing and hair-growing capsules, Liuwei Dihuang pills, etc., but the effects are definitely not as good as minoxidil and finasteride.

5) Auxiliary treatments: including laser combs, laser helmets, platelet-rich injections, mesotherapy, etc.

6) Decoration : including wigs, hair weaving, hair replacement, hair tattooing, and hair density fibers to temporarily cover up hair loss.

7) Hair transplantation: If medication is ineffective or not suitable for drug treatment, hair transplantation is the only option. Generally, hair transplantation is suitable for hair loss levels 2 to 6, but it is basically impossible for level 7 because there are not enough healthy hair follicles that can be extracted from the back of the head. There are also some special cases, such as artistic planting of eyebrows, sideburns, beards, etc.
