What is the difference between anal polyps and hemorrhoids?

The symptoms of anal polyps and hemorrhoids are quite similar, so many people may confuse the two conditions. Patients with mild hemorrhoids will have symptoms of bloody stools, while polyps will have symptoms of prolapse and intestinal irritation, which are different in nature.

One of the differences between polyps and hemorrhoids is from the cause : the main causes of hemorrhoids in the human body are increased portal vein pressure, long-term constipation, and increased intra-abdominal pressure. The main causes of rectal polyps in the human body are: genetic factors, inflammatory stimulation, fecal stimulation, etc.

The second difference between polyps and hemorrhoids is from the symptoms : when patients develop hemorrhoids, patients with mild hemorrhoids will have blood in the stool and anal itching. There is secretion. There will be a little blood when wiping during bowel movements. Moderate hemorrhoids will cause blood dripping during bowel movements, increased anal pain, etc. Hemorrhoids may prolapse but can return to their original position by themselves. Patients with severe hemorrhoids will bleed during bowel movements, and need to be pushed back in by hand after prolapse. Patients will be restless and in unbearable pain.

When rectal polyps appear in the human body, the main symptom is blood in the stool, and there may also be polyp prolapse and intestinal irritation symptoms. There is a feeling of residual stool after defecation, which cannot be wiped clean.

The third difference between polyps and hemorrhoids is from the pathological point of view: the pathological nature of hemorrhoids is the soft venous mass after varicose veins around the anus. Patients usually bleed due to squeezing and friction during defecation, or form thrombosed hemorrhoids and cause severe pain to patients. There are three main types of hemorrhoids: internal hemorrhoids, external hemorrhoids and mixed hemorrhoid

Rectal polyps are different. The pathological properties of hemorrhoidal polyps are also different. Some are benign tumors of the rectal mucosa, and some are hyperplasia caused by inflammatory stimulation. When observed with the naked eye for several days, the appearance of the polyps is generally similar. However, the appearance of polyps may be a precancerous lesion. Some of the patient's polyps may develop into rectal cancer.
