How is myelofibrosis treated?

TCM treatment of myelofibrosis:

1. Liver and kidney yin deficiency type:

Treatment method: Nourish the liver and kidneys, replenish qi and produce blood.

Prescription: Zuogui Pills with added ingredients. Zuogui Pills focus on nourishing kidney yin, and are mainly used to treat symptoms such as dizziness, soreness of the waist and knees, low fever and night sweats caused by deficiency of true yin and deficiency of essence and marrow. The formula uses a large amount of Rehmannia glutinosa to nourish the kidneys and replenish true yin, Lycium barbarum to improve essence and eyesight, and Cornus officinalis to astringe essence and reduce sweat. Turtle and deer glues are both products of blood and flesh. Deer glue is more inclined to replenish yang, while turtle glue is more inclined to nourish yin. When the two glues are used together, they can replenish both yin and yang, which means seeking yin in yang. Cuscuta seed combined with Achyranthes bidentata can strengthen the waist and knees, and strengthen the tendons and bones. Yam nourishes the spleen and kidneys. It has the effects of nourishing the kidney, replenishing essence, nourishing yin and suppressing yang.

2. Spleen and Kidney Yang Deficiency Type:

Treatment method: Warm and nourish kidney yang, replenish essence and blood.

Prescription: Yougui Pills with added ingredients. Yougui Wan focuses on warming and nourishing the kidney yang, and is mainly used to treat kidney yang deficiency and decline of the fire in the gate of life. The cinnamon, aconite and deer antler glue in the formula have the functions of warming and nourishing the kidney yang, replenishing the essence and benefiting the marrow; the rehmannia, cornus, yam, dodder seed, wolfberry and eucommia all have the functions of nourishing yin and benefiting the kidney, nourishing the liver and tonifying the spleen. Adding angelica can nourish the blood and nourish the liver, which has the meaning of seeking yang from yin, so as to achieve the effect of nourishing the original yang in the kidney.

If the patient has obvious yang deficiency and qi deficiency, adding ginseng will produce quick results. You can also add Codonopsis pilosula. Astragalus is used to enhance the effect of replenishing qi.

3. Qi and blood deficiency with blood stasis type:

Treatment method: Invigorate Qi and nourish blood, activate blood circulation and remove blood stasis.

Prescription: Bazhen Decoction with added ingredients. This prescription is a tonifying agent for both qi and blood. The formula uses ginseng, atractylodes, Poria, and grass to nourish the spleen and replenish qi; angelica, peony, and rehmannia nourish the heart and liver, and adding Chuanxiong enters the blood and regulates qi, so that the angelica and rehmannia nourish without stagnation; adding ginger and jujube helps ginseng and atractylodes enter the qi to harmonize the spleen and stomach. This prescription is combined with Indigo to clear away heat and detoxify, and Curcuma to promote blood circulation and remove blood stasis, so as to achieve the effect of both attacking and replenishing.

If the patient is suffering from yin deficiency, you can add Ophiopogon japonicus and Rehmannia glutinosa to nourish yin.
