How to treat hot flashes?

Strictly speaking, hot flashes are a disease in traditional Chinese medicine theory. It mainly refers to a state of the body. In layman's terms, the body will feel extremely hot, as if there are many fires burning inside. There are many causes of this disease, which is mainly related to one's physical condition and daily eating habits. So the question is, how to treat hot flashes?

Treat according to syndrome differentiation

1. Traditional Chinese medicine treatment

(1) For Yin deficiency type, nourish the kidney and yin, and connect the heart and kidney. Prescription: Zhibai Dihuang Pills and Ganmai Dazao Decoction or Zhibai Dihuang Pills combined with Tianwang Buxin Pills.

(2) Damp-heat type: Strengthen the spleen, eliminate dampness and reduce fever. Prescription: Shenling Baizhu powder with added ingredients.

(3) Excessive heat type: clearing away heat, dredging bowels and reducing fever. Prescription: Dachengqi and Xiaochengqi decoctions with added ingredients.

2. Diet therapy

Patients with hot flashes and sweating should eat cool, yin-nourishing and body-warming fruits, such as watermelon, pears, tangerines, oranges, bananas, apples, persimmons, loofahs, lilies, tomatoes, fresh lotus roots, white fungus, lotus seeds, and turtles. Avoid spicy or irritating foods.

3. Acupuncture

Acupoints: Hegu, Yinlingquan, Jianshi, Sanyinjiao, Guanyuan. Add or subtract points according to the syndrome.

1. Reduce stress: In today's fast-paced life environment, many women feel under a lot of pressure, but it is not easy to control stress.

2. Change your lifestyle: Increasing exercise can greatly reduce menopausal hot flashes and can have a positive impact on other menopausal symptoms such as insomnia, fatigue, mood swings, decreased libido or increased cholesterol levels.

3. Dietary prevention: A low-fat diet can help overcome menopausal hot flashes; weight loss also helps to a certain extent, but excessive weight loss may lead to further deterioration of symptoms; foods that are too spicy or too hot should be avoided, and you should also eat a variety of fruits.

4. Traditional Chinese medicine treatment: Chinese herbal medicines rich in phytoestrogens can be used to replace human estrogen.

5. Drug treatment: Mild sedatives, antihypertensive drugs or antidepressants can be used to deal with menopausal hot flashes, but they must be diagnosed, guided and supervised by a professional doctor.
