Ataxia is a movement coordination disorder. Limb ataxia is also a type of ataxia. The symptoms of limb ataxia are divided into stages, especially when walking. The symptoms are more obvious. Patients have unstable gait, which requires attention to treatment.

1. Generally, after limb ataxia occurs, it will also show abnormal manifestations in different stages due to the development of the disease. Of course, there will be different physical manifestations in the early and late stages of the disease. For example, in the early stages of limb ataxia, patients mainly show ataxia of the lower limbs. At this time, the upper limbs will not be affected too much, but will only show unstable gait and shaking limbs when walking. The movements are sluggish and the accuracy is poor.

2. However, as the limb ataxia worsens, there will be problems with eye movement. Sometimes you can't write normally, and even swallowing can't be completed smoothly. In the late stage of limb ataxia, patients can't speak clearly, and some can't even speak normally. Not only are the limbs weak, but the patients are also unable to stand, and some may even fall into a coma.

3. In fact, for patients with limb ataxia, the development of the disease can be observed through some simple daily life movements. For example, simple activities such as dressing, buttoning, carrying water, eating, speaking, and walking will not be completed normally as the disease worsens. Not only will the patient have unsteady walking and staggering gait, but some small movements will also be inflexible, and the patient's legs will be spread particularly wide when walking; even adult patients with limb ataxia cannot walk in a straight line. Even when they are unstable, they will use their upper limbs to achieve body balance. Some patients with limb ataxia also experience symptoms of unregulated movements.
