Oral lichen planus remedies

1. Prescription for activating blood circulation and treating eczema

Functions and indications: Promote blood circulation and remove blood stasis, reduce swelling and remove rot. It is mainly used to treat oral lichen planus, oral discoid lupus erythematosus and other oral streaking lesions.

Prescription composition: Salvia miltiorrhiza, Chuanxiong, Millettia reticulata, Curcuma aromatica, Red Peony Root, and Peach Kernel, made into tablets. Take 4 tablets 3 times a day. Take orally after meals. One course of treatment is 2 months.

This prescription is suitable for oral lichen planus caused by qi stagnation and blood stasis. The salvia miltiorrhiza, red peony root, and Millettia reticulata in the formula nourish blood and promote blood circulation; peach kernel breaks up blood stasis and disperses nodules; turmeric promotes qi and regulates blood circulation; and chuanxiong harmonizes qi and blood. The combination of these medicines can improve the body's blood circulation.

Modern medical research has confirmed that after using this prescription, the blood flow in the patient's microvessels is accelerated, the flow pattern tends to be normal, and there are histological changes such as reduced inflammatory cell infiltration and basal cell regeneration, indicating that this prescription is indeed effective in eliminating inflammation, promoting erosion healing and the disappearance of white spots.

2. Nine-flavor Moss-eliminating Drink

Functions and indications: Strengthen the spleen and eliminate dampness, nourish yin and clear heat, and tonify the kidney. Mainly used to treat erosive oral lichen planus.

The prescription consists of raw rehmannia: Codonopsis pilosula, Dendrobium officinale, Cornus officinalis, Scrophularia ningpoensis, raw coix seeds, Poria cocos, Sophora flavescens, and Scutellaria baicalensis, decocted in water and taken orally. If the dampness is heavy, add Plantago seed and Anemarrhena asphodeloides; if the heat is excessive, add Phellodendron chinense.

Long-term illness will lead to weakness and often damage the spleen, stomach and kidney qi. Spleen deficiency and dampness, kidney deficiency and poor qi transformation, so water and dampness stagnate inside the body, spread to the skin surface, and appear as white lines. If the dampness is heavy, it will cause ulcers and erosion, which will recur repeatedly and be difficult to heal. This prescription uses raw coix seed to replenish the qi of the spleen and stomach, cornus officinalis to replenish the kidney qi, and codonopsis to replenish the vital energy, so that both the innate and acquired qi can be replenished; it also uses Poria to strengthen the spleen and eliminate dampness, Sophora flavescens and Scutellaria baicalensis to clear heat and dry dampness, which has a strong effect of removing dampness; to prevent excessive dryness, it is combined with raw rehmannia and Scrophularia ningpoensis to nourish yin, so that the qi can be replenished, the dampness can be eliminated, the yin and yang can be harmonized, and the condition can be alleviated. According to modern pharmacological research, the drugs used in this prescription have the effects of regulating immunity, enhancing digestion and having broad-spectrum antibacterial effects, and therefore have a significant effect on promoting the healing of ulcer erosion. When using this prescription, the effect will be better if it is used in conjunction with local medication.
