What is the skin aging process?

Skin aging is a scary thing, and skin aging is a long process. If you understand it, you will find ways to avoid aging too quickly. First of all, as we age, the body's hormone levels decrease faster, and the rate of skin replacement also decreases. New cells do not grow, and the human skin begins to sag. Secondly, because there are very few cells in the dermis, if the skin does not have the support of the subcutaneous tissue, wrinkles will appear and people will look older. Finally, due to the influence of the external environment, the skin will inevitably appear dark after being exposed to the sun and rain.

1 Starting from around the age of 35, as we age, hormone levels decrease and the skin renewal process begins to slow down. Finally, the growth cycle of new cells takes too long, and the "old" cells float on the surface of the skin, making the skin look dry and rough. Makeup has lost its former magic, and applying more foundation will only make the wrinkles on the skin more prominent.

2 There are very few cells inside the dermis, which is mainly composed of fibrous connective tissue, including collagen fibers, elastic fibers and reticular fibers. It has an important relationship with the elasticity, gloss and tension of the skin. As we age, the production of collagen in the dermis decreases. The skin loses the deep support from under the skin, which causes wrinkles and appears on the surface of the skin.

3 Below the dermis is the third layer of the skin - the subcutaneous tissue, which is composed of a large amount of adipose tissue scattered in the loose connective tissue. Aging causes the fat that is usually accumulated to begin to break down, so the skin on the face begins to sag, the cheeks are no longer plump, the eyelids, eyebrows, and even the forehead begin to collapse, and shadows appear on the face. Because normally there is a small amount of fat under the eyelids, once the fat is lost, a terrible depression will form between the eyelid and cheek.

4 The three-layer structure of the skin is bonded together by elastin fibers and connective tissue, which provide nutritional support to the surface of the skin. As we age and are affected by the surrounding environment, such as solar radiation and environmental pollution, these fibrous tissues become damaged and lose elasticity, eventually causing the skin to sag and sink. The nose and lips area starts to become distinct, the cheeks collapse, the jaw also starts to collapse, and the skin on the jaw and neck starts to sag.
