Labor pains are uterine contractions, especially when you are about to give birth, the contractions will become more and more intense, which is also a signal that the fetus is about to be born. During the normal conditioning process of pregnant women, when the labor pains first appear, the pregnant woman feels it more obviously, and will feel the uterus gradually expanding. This pain will sometimes become stronger and stronger. Let us learn about this aspect.

What does the initial labor pain feel like?

Labor pains are the pain caused by uterine contractions before the birth of the fetus, which is a signal that the fetus is about to be delivered. When the fetus has completed development and the pregnancy is about to end, the uterus will begin to contract, pushing the fetus and allowing it to slowly descend from the cervix. After the cervix is two fingers dilated, the frequency and intensity of uterine contractions will increase, that is, they become more frequent and more painful, with contractions occurring approximately every 3 to 5 minutes, each lasting 30 to 40 seconds. When the cervix is close to being fully dilated, uterine contractions may become as frequent as once every 1 to 2 minutes, each lasting 45 to 60 seconds.

As time goes by, the waist, buttocks, and heels will feel stretched, and the cervix and vagina will be very painful. When the real labor begins, pregnant women will feel unbearable pain, and many pregnant women choose to have a caesarean section because they cannot bear it.

When the fetus descends into the pelvis and presses on the pubic bone, the location of prenatal labor pains will also shift from the upper abdomen to the lower abdomen. The pain after entering the labor process is true labor pain. Labor pain will cause the cervix to gradually expand and thin. The pain intensity of true labor pain becomes stronger and stronger, and the pain lasts longer and longer. The time interval between each labor pain will become shorter and shorter, and will not be relieved by walking. When a new mother's contractions are so frequent that they occur every 3 to 5 minutes, or when a multipara has regular contractions, she should go to the hospital as soon as possible to give birth.

Causes of labor pains

1. Uterine contraction. The uterus contracts due to the pressure from the fetus, causing pain throughout the body.

2. The fetus stretches and compresses the birth canal. When the fetus is about to be born, the soft birth canal such as the uterine muscles, vagina and perineum are stretched, and you can feel the pain of the tissue and skin being stretched.

3. The pelvic nerves and bones are compressed by the fetus. The nerves in the pelvis are compressed by the fetal head. My waist, hips and heels hurt a lot.
