A dependent personality is a personality with relatively weak autonomy and lack of independent consciousness. Because of the constant compromise, people with dependent personality disorder will develop more and more depression, which prevents them from doing anything for themselves or having any personal hobbies.

When analyzing dependent personality, psychologist Horney pointed out that this type of person has several characteristics:

(1) Feeling weak and helpless, with a pitiful feeling. When I have to make my own decisions, I feel at a loss, like a boat that has lost its harbor or Cinderella who has lost her godmother.

(2) Taking it for granted that others are better, more attractive, and more capable than oneself.

(3) Unconsciously tend to judge oneself based on the opinions of others.
