The three main functions and effects of Malantou

Amaranthus is also called field chrysanthemum, and in the south it is also called chicken intestine. It is a plant of the Asteraceae family and has good medicinal value. The extract of Amaranthus has anti-inflammatory and analgesic effects, and also has certain anti-aging and tumor prevention effects. Amaranthus is rich in the trace element selenium, which is very good in removing free radicals from the body. It also contains a large amount of potassium salt, which is also good in preventing stroke.

1. Anti-inflammatory and analgesic effects

The ethanol extract of Malan has a unique antitussive effect when injected into animals; it also has an anticonvulsant effect and enhances the eye-stimulating effect of sodium pentobarbital. It has a weak analgesic effect on mice. It is reported that the anti-inflammatory effect of whole-leaf Amaranthus was observed using the rat toe swelling method and the mouse ear swelling method; the analgesic effect of whole-leaf Amaranthus was observed using the rat potassium ion subcutaneous penetration pain method and the mouse writhing method. The results showed that whole-leaf Amaranthus could counteract the inflammatory effects of fresh egg white and xylene, and enhance the analgesic effect of pethidine, with significant differences compared with the normal saline control group (P<0.01). Chen Daozhen and Hu Jiefeng used fresh Amaranth to treat mastitis. All patients were breastfeeding women, aged 25 to 36 years old. It is best to use an appropriate amount of thick red stems, mash them and apply them to the affected area. Change the dressing every 12 hours and all the patients will be cured.

2. Anti-aging and anti-cancer effects

It is reported that Malan is rich in trace elements selenium, VE and carotene. Among them, Se, Zn, Mg and Ca are more abundant. Studies have shown that selenium is an element that has significant anti-cancer, anti-aging and immunity-enhancing effects. Selenium is an essential component of the antioxidant enzyme (GSH-PS). Selenium can increase the activity of this enzyme and prevent lipid peroxidation in biological membranes. Animal experiments have shown that selenium-containing compounds can inhibit the occurrence and development of spontaneous tumors and induced tumors. According to the information, it can inhibit liver cancer, skin cancer and lymphoma induced by chemical carcinogens. VE is a natural antioxidant that has physiological functions such as removing free radicals in the body, maintaining the integrity and normal function of cell membranes, and preventing sebum peroxidation. Recent studies have shown that it can reduce the carcinogenic effects of some carcinogens and protect against cell damage and induced cancer caused by radioactive elements. In addition, it can also reduce the toxic side effects of anti-cancer chemotherapy drugs. Carotene is also an antioxidant that inhibits the generation of reactive oxygen by providing electrons, thereby scavenging free radicals. This enables it to play the same role as other antioxidants in delaying aging and preventing cardiovascular diseases and tumors.

3. Effects on blood vessels

Amaranth contains a large amount of potassium salt: every 100g of fresh Amaranth contains 1013.36mg of potassium, which is 2 to 20 times more than that of common vegetables. Medically proven, Amaranth can regulate the balance of water and electrolytes in the body. The potassium ingested from Amaranth enters the blood through the body's physiological and biochemical reactions, directly acts on the blood vessel walls, reduces the accumulation of sodium in the myocardium, increases the power to propel blood, dilates blood vessel walls, reduces the accumulation of sodium in the myocardium, increases the power to propel blood, dilates blood vessel walls, prevents thickening of arterial walls, protects blood vessels, and can prevent and reduce the risk of stroke caused by high blood pressure. Therefore, a high-K diet has certain bone-strengthening and blood pressure-lowering effects.
