What symptoms should you pay attention to when you hit your head?

It is a common problem for children to hit their heads in life, but as parents, you cannot ignore this situation. If the problem is serious, or even bleeding and unconsciousness, then you must take the child to the hospital in time for a more comprehensive examination and treatment. If the child becomes listless or feels dizzy, you may need to be alert to concussion.

1. Check for injuries immediately

When a baby falls and hits his head, parents should pick up the child immediately and carefully observe the baby's head to see if there are any lumps, wounds, bleeding or other injuries, and whether the baby is conscious. If redness or swelling occurs, you need to use a wet towel to apply ice to the injured area. However, if the swelling continues to be too large, you must take your baby to the hospital for treatment in time.

2. Stop bleeding immediately when bleeding occurs

When a baby hits his head and bleeds too much, parents should first remain calm, calmly confirm the wound, find some thicker gauze or a clean towel to apply moderate pressure to the wound, and then send the baby to the hospital and ask the doctor for further treatment.

3. Test your baby’s state of consciousness

After the baby's head is hit, parents should test the baby's consciousness. The mother can gently call the baby's name to see if the baby can respond consciously. If the baby appears weak and tired, listless, drowsy, etc., it is possible that the brain is damaged, and the child should be taken to the hospital for a head examination in time.

4. Observe your baby’s sense of balance

Although the collision was serious, the baby was always conscious. At this time, parents must let the baby walk a few steps to see if the baby's walking posture shows dizziness to prevent the baby from having a concussion. If there are any abnormalities, seek medical attention immediately.

5. See if the baby feels like vomiting

After the baby hits his head, parents can first calm the baby down and observe whether he feels like vomiting, whether he raises his neck, looks pale, or hiccups. If the baby has severe vomiting, he may have intracranial hematoma, so be sure to take the baby to see a doctor immediately.

6. Call emergency number

If the baby hits his head and then has convulsions or falls into a coma, call 120 immediately. Do not move the baby yet. Let the baby lie flat with the head tilted to one side to prevent vomit from being accidentally inhaled into the trachea. You can pinch the baby's philtrum or tiger's mouth to help the baby wake up.
