Acupuncture points on the soles of the feet corresponding to lumbar disc herniation

We see many people in massage parlors. They go to the parlor for massage because of their bad lumbar spine. They think that a few courses of massage can be effective. In fact, people with lumbar disc herniation can be treated with massage, but it is not only possible to massage the acupoints on the soles of the feet. The first step in the massage process is to find the right acupoints to achieve the therapeutic effect.

Can I massage my lumbar disc?

We often have patients asking this question in clinical practice. We usually do not recommend massage. Once lumbar disc herniation is confirmed, especially for patients with symptoms of lower limb nerve compression, massage is not recommended or is prohibited.

Because after lumbar disc herniation, when nerve compression occurs, massage can easily lead to repeated stimulation of the local nerve roots, causing local edema, which will aggravate the symptoms of nerve compression, that is, the pain and numbness in the lower limbs will be aggravated, making it impossible to fall asleep or wake up in pain after falling asleep, increasing the patient's pain experience. Therefore, we do not recommend massage.

For patients with mild lumbar disc herniation, if they prefer massage, they can perform appropriate local physical therapy, hot compresses and mild manipulations to avoid further aggravation of symptoms caused by aggravating local muscle pressure.

Lumbar disc herniation is generally treated with conservative, interventional, or surgical methods. It is recommended to first use conservative treatment, and avoid surgery if possible. Surgery is the last treatment method. Generally, conservative treatments such as massage, traction, acupuncture, physical therapy, Chinese medicine, and qigong are recommended. It should be noted that exercise or lifting heavy objects can induce and aggravate it. In addition, you need to sleep on a hard bed. Also pay attention to waist sprain, excessive fatigue, cold, dampness, etc. Lumbar disc herniation
