Where to apply moxibustion for tenosynovitis

Orthopedic diseases such as tenosynovitis are not easy to recover after they occur. After the occurrence of tenosynovitis, we must seize the best treatment time as soon as possible, so that we can stay away from the disease as soon as possible. First of all, we need to know whether patients with tenosynovitis should use moxibustion. Moxibustion can be an auxiliary treatment, but it cannot be a complete treatment, so it can be used as an auxiliary treatment when necessary.

What are the effective treatments for tenosynovitis?

Clinically, the most common symptom of tenosynovitis is pain. Most patients cannot clearly point out the location of the pain, but only complain of "awkwardness" in the joints, soreness or a feeling of weakness in the joints during exercise. Sometimes people with tenosynovitis feel a band-like pain. Local swelling is also one of the manifestations of tenosynovitis. The tendon affected by tenosynovitis will have cord-like bulges of varying degrees. Therefore, treatment is the most direct way to relieve pain for patients.

TCM external application treatment

Traditional Chinese medicine plasters are used for thin applications on the skin surface, so strong-smelling medicines are taken from the plasters, and used as guides to lead the group of medicines, to dissipate stagnation and reach the affected area directly. Therefore, it can penetrate the skin to produce anti-inflammatory, analgesic, blood circulation and blood stasis, invigorate qi and nourish blood, dredge meridians and collaterals, strengthen tendons and bones, relax tendons and activate collaterals, open up the orifices and penetrate the bones, dispel wind and cold, etc. The plaster "Anshao Anti-inflammatory Patch" applied to the body surface stimulates nerve endings, dilates blood vessels through reflex, promotes local blood circulation, improves nutrition of surrounding tissues, and achieves the purpose of reducing swelling, inflammation and analgesia.

Acupuncture treatment

Acupuncture points: Yangxi, Yangchi, Hegu, Quchi, Shousanli, Lieque, Pianli and Ashi points on the affected side. Routine skin disinfection is performed, and the Ashi points at the tender points are selected using the circumferential needling method. After the needling has obtained qi, the method of equal tonification and equal drainage is used. Moxibustion is applied to Yangxi, Lieque and Yangchi points. Long-term treatment has significant effects.

Massage Techniques

The local and distal acupoints are tapped, pressed, pushed, kneaded, rolled, plucked, and rubbed. The doctor uses the thumb to focus on kneading the radial styloid process and its upper and lower parts for 15 minutes. Most patients can be cured with one course of treatment.

Surgery

Severe cases require surgical treatment, and after the operation, a suitable splint is used for fixation. When non-surgical treatment is ineffective, acupuncture or tenotomy may be used. Make an incision at the transverse palmar crease and use vascular forceps to separate the tendon sheath directly to avoid damaging the digital vascular nerve bundle.
