What Chinese patent medicine should I take for liver qi deficiency?

The liver is one of the more important organs in the human body. Why don’t we show symptoms of poisoning after our body ingests some toxins? It is mainly because the liver helps us detoxify. The liver filters blood throughout our body every 3 minutes, so it is working non-stop and needs to be well protected. There are many common liver diseases in life, such as the so-called liver qi deficiency in traditional Chinese medicine. What Chinese medicine should I take for this disease?

Traditional Chinese medicine has a saying that "the liver cannot be replenished with qi". Although the symptoms are of deficiency, the treatment should still be to soothe the liver and nourish the blood. Therefore, Sini San, Chaihu Shugan San and Xiaoyao San are used as the basic prescriptions, and additions and subtractions are made to adjust the treatment. Codonopsis pilosula, stir-fried jujube seeds, raw astragalus, raw rehmannia, white peony root, poria, bupleurum, cornus officinalis, wolfberry, and licorice. The patient recovered after taking 4 doses of medicine.

TCM focuses on syndrome differentiation in treating diseases. The theory, methods, prescriptions and medicines of TCM are the mainstay throughout the process. Although traditional Chinese medicine has the theory of liver qi deficiency and liver yang deficiency, it believes that all liver diseases are real diseases, while the only virtual diseases are liver yin deficiency and liver blood deficiency. In addition, when treating liver yin deficiency, people often start from the principle of “Yi and Gui have the same origin”. Therefore, in clinical practice, bitter and cold herbs are often used to treat liver diseases, which often leads to weakness of liver qi and liver yang.

In gynecological diseases, irregular menstruation, rib pain, dysmenorrhea and dizziness are common. For this type of patients, we need to invigorate Qi and warm Yang. Only in this way can the theory of Zang-Xiang in traditional Chinese medicine be further improved. When treating liver diseases, we must also consider the pathogenesis of liver qi deficiency and liver yang deficiency, and use medicine to reach the affected area. Don't use it for too long, so as not to go to extremes.
