Why do pregnant women have headaches?

What pregnant women fear most during pregnancy is headaches and fever, because first, they cannot seek treatment after getting the disease, and dare not go for a check-up after symptoms appear, for fear of finding out some serious problems. They are very entangled and worried. In fact, pregnant women still need to go for a check-up for headaches, because although they cannot take medicine or get injections after the examination, they can use other methods of auxiliary treatment to relieve the symptoms.

Migraine refers to a unilateral pulsating headache caused by cerebral vasoconstriction and dilation dysfunction. The headache is usually accompanied by photophobia and phonophobia, and in severe cases, nausea and vomiting. Most cases begin in young people, with recurrent symptoms that are significantly aggravated during activities. When the headache symptoms are mild, they can be significantly relieved after sleep and rest. Of course, it is also effective in responding to most analgesics.

Common causes of headaches include colds, fatigue, mental tension, stress, staying up late, poor sleep, some medicines or foods, etc.

The reasons for migraine attacks in pregnant women are no more than this. Some pregnant women are prone to tension and anxiety due to changes in various physical and psychological conditions during pregnancy, coupled with excessive tension and worry, insufficient care and support from family members, etc., which can induce migraine attacks.

Therefore, the cause of migraine attacks in pregnant women still needs to be analyzed specifically. First of all, it depends on whether it is a migraine attack. It is rare that a migraine attack occurs for the first time during pregnancy. Generally, it has occurred before. This requires seeing whether the location, degree, nature, accompanying symptoms, and factors that induce and relieve the headache during pregnancy are different from before. If there is no obvious difference, then consider a migraine attack; if it is very different, then it is also necessary to consider the possibility of other diseases such as tension headache.

Secondly, it is necessary to identify the triggers of migraine attacks. Due to the special physical conditions during pregnancy, especially in the early stages of pregnancy, there are many contraindications to taking medications due to concerns about possible effects on the fetus, etc. If the pain is not severe and absolutely necessary, medication is usually not the first choice. At this time, it is particularly important to actively find the triggers of migraine attacks, because in most cases, headache symptoms can usually be alleviated after removing or correcting the triggers.
