The child keeps complaining of a headache

Normally, children are not prone to headaches. Even if they have a cold, they will only experience nausea, vomiting, or fever. If a child keeps complaining of headaches, several factors should be considered, such as fever or problems with the organs inside the brain, eye or ear diseases, lack of sleep, psychological factors, or lead poisoning. Meningitis cannot be ruled out, which requires examination and treatment.

There are many common causes of headaches in children, which can be roughly divided into eight major factors:

1. Meningitis.

2. Brain tumor: A mass inside the skull causes some arteries and venous sinuses to be affected and cause headaches.

3. Fever or hypoxia: The blood vessels in the brain will dilate and cause headaches.

4. Problems with head organs: For example, sinusitis, glaucoma, myopia, otitis media, and toothache may also cause headaches.

5. Lack of sleep and emotional tension: Excessive contraction of the head muscles can also cause headaches.

6. Psychological factors: such as schoolwork pressure and the desire to get more care and attention from parents can also cause headaches.

7. Drug and lead poisoning.

8. Nephritis and hypertension: High blood pressure can cause headaches, while nephritis can cause high blood pressure, which sometimes causes headaches in children.

How to deal with headaches: There are two ways to deal with headaches in children:

If the child's headaches have been around for a long time and each attack is no different from previous ones, just rest and observe. If the pain is severe and the child cannot sleep, the child can take some painkillers. If the headache occurs for the first time, you must be careful and it is best to ask a professional doctor to check to make sure that the headache is not caused by potential factors such as brain tumors or increased intracranial pressure. If you suspect that you have the above-mentioned lesions, you should be hospitalized for further examination.

Although headaches in children are a common symptom, fortunately most of them are benign vascular headaches and muscle contraction headaches. The only thing to note is the headache caused by brain lesions. If it is not discovered in time, it will often leave serious sequelae, so it must not be neglected.
