Is cerebral spasm a serious disease?

Is cerebral spasm a serious disease?

Cerebral spasm is generally caused by strong stimulation of the arterial walls of the brain due to some reasons, which causes vasospasm. This often leads to a decrease in blood flow in the brain's blood vessels. Sometimes patients will experience transient cerebral ischemia, which is quite harmful to patients. The harm is closely related to the duration of the onset of the disease. If the onset time is relatively long, it is easy to cause brain damage.

Brain spasm hazards

The symptoms of cerebral vasospasm are related to the location of the spasm, the duration of the spasm, and the severity of the disease. Common symptoms of cerebral vasospasm include:

Severe headache, dizziness, tinnitus, transient blindness, speech disorders, facial paralysis, numbness of one side of the limbs or movement disorders, etc.; if the spasm is short, the symptoms are mild or there are no obvious symptoms.

Cause

1) Atherosclerotic plaques in the internal carotid artery or vertebral-basilar artery system cause narrowing of the blood vessel lumen and blood flow vortex, which stimulates the blood vessel wall and causes vasospasm, resulting in insufficient blood supply to the vertebral-basilar artery;

2) Continuous hypertension can cause cerebral vasospasm or hypertensive encephalopathy;

3) Subarachnoid hemorrhage can cause widespread and localized cerebral vasospasm.

prevention

1. Eat a balanced diet. It is recommended to eat more fresh vegetables and fruits and less greasy food. It is recommended to drink red wine (50-100mml) and green tea, and eat yellow foods (such as carrots, sweet potatoes, corn, tomatoes, etc.), black fungus and oatmeal.

2. Exercise moderately. The best exercise is walking. It is very safe if you master the "three, five, seven" exercise. "Three" means walking 3 kilometers every day for more than 30 minutes; "Five" means exercising more than five times a week; "Seven" means the heart rate after exercise plus age is about 170. This amount of exercise is of moderate intensity. In addition, you can also jog, do yoga, practice Tai Chi, ride a bike, swim, etc. according to your personal situation. It has been reported that cerebral arteriosclerosis can be prevented in people who do exercise equivalent to walking or jogging for 3 kilometers.

3. Quit smoking and limit alcohol intake. The harm of smoking is unquestionable, and we should be determined to quit it. If you are still unable to quit smoking completely, it is recommended that you limit your smoking to 5 cigarettes per day. You can drink alcohol in moderation. It is recommended to drink a small amount of red wine, no more than 300ml of beer, and no more than 25ml of liquor. Absolutely no alcoholism.

4. Psychological balance. A healthy lifestyle is important, and among all health care measures, mental balance is the most critical. Eliminate worries about the disease, establish a correct attitude towards the disease, maintain a calm mind and a happy mood, and avoid emotional excitement.
