What is anal prolapse?

Rectal prolapse is a relatively common anorectal disease. There are many causes of rectal prolapse, including hemorrhoids and other reasons. When rectal prolapse occurs, it often causes the swelling to fall out. In the early stages, the swelling can retreat on its own. When it is more serious, it cannot return automatically and can only be dragged up and reset by hand. This often causes some mucus to flow out, which can easily cause the patient to feel swollen and falling, and cause a feeling of incomplete defecation.

What is anal prolapse?

1. Early symptoms of rectal prolapse

After defecation, the mucous membrane protrudes from the anus and can retract on its own. Later, the anus gradually fails to recover on its own and needs to be reset by hand. A small amount of mucus often flows out of the anus. There is a feeling of falling and incomplete defecation after defecation, and the frequency of defecation increases!

2. Symptoms of mid-stage anal prolapse

In the middle stage of rectal prolapse, it can be dislocated by coughing, sneezing, walking or with a little force. There is a local swelling sensation after prolapse, and you may also feel pain in the lumbar region. The prolapsed mucosa secretes mucus, and the mucosa is often irritated, which may cause congestion, edema and ulcers. The secretion may be mixed with bloody mucus, which may cause itching of the skin around the anus. 3. Late-stage symptoms of rectal prolapse

Incarceration may occur in the late stage of rectal prolapse. Due to the relaxation of the anal sphincter, incarceration rarely occurs. Once incarceration occurs, the patient will feel severe local pain, and the swelling cannot be reduced by hand. The anal canal will quickly become swollen, congested, and the mucosal folds will disappear. Clinically, rectal prolapse is divided into three degrees according to the severity of prolapse: first degree is rectal mucosal prolapse, second degree is full-thickness rectal prolapse, and third degree is rectal and sigmoid colon prolapse!
