Symptoms of corpus luteum insufficiency

Symptoms of corpus luteum insufficiency

The corpus luteum is progesterone, and progesterone deficiency is also a common phenomenon. It generally causes some common diseases in life, so many people pay more attention to this type of disease. It is mainly for women to maintain normal physiological functions. At the same time, it is mainly the production of some progesterone and some common ovarian secretions in the body. Therefore, progesterone deficiency will also cause some common gynecological diseases, and severe cases will lead to infertility.

Corpus luteum insufficiency is also a common phenomenon, and it is mainly caused by insufficient progesterone in the body. The main treatment method is progesterone injection for supplementation, and the other is drug treatment. The timely use of some treatment methods will also have a certain impact on progesterone treatment.

Luteal insufficiency can lead to follicular hypoplasia, incomplete luteinization, and an imbalance in the ratio of estrogen and progesterone secreted by the corpus luteum itself. There are quite a few cases of infertility caused by corpus luteum insufficiency, accounting for about 3%-10% of all infertility cases. Patients with this disease usually do not have any discomfort symptoms, but may not ovulate in several menstrual cycles, and sometimes have excessive and frequent menstruation or prolonged menstruation.

Treatment method : If it is luteal insufficiency, there are two main methods of treatment. One is to use hormone supplementation therapy, that is, to supplement what hormone is lacking. The other is to use drugs to stimulate luteal therapy. These drugs include female hormones, human chorionic gonadotropin, clomiphene, menstruation regulating and pregnancy promoting pills, etc. In addition, for luteal insufficiency caused by too high prolactin levels in the blood, drugs that lower prolactin, such as bromocriptine, are needed.

How to judge : The manifestations of luteal insufficiency are: generally short menstrual cycle, heavy bleeding before menstruation, infertility in women of childbearing age or habitual miscarriage, etc. To determine whether luteal phase function is insufficient, it is generally necessary to measure basal body temperature, such as if the luteal phase temperature is shorter than 12 days. Or the body temperature rises slowly, falls early, and the increase is less than 0.5℃. Or large fluctuations in body temperature during the luteal phase are both manifestations of luteal insufficiency.

However, it should be noted that the measurement should be continued for 3 menstrual cycles before it can be confirmed.
