Mesenteric lymphadenitis caused by Salmonella infection is different from viral lymphadenitis. The bacterially invaded lymph nodes often show acute inflammatory reactions, bleeding and necrosis in the lymph nodes, and Salmonella can be isolated in the lymph nodes.
