Methods of correcting vision

Methods of correcting vision

Vision is very important to our human body. If we lose our vision, we will not be able to see things, which brings us great trouble. Now due to our unhealthy use of eyes, it is easy to cause problems with our vision. So do we have any way to correct our vision? In fact, there are many ways to correct vision, and we must choose the method that suits us.

There are many ways to correct vision. We can use medical methods to correct vision, we can also use diet therapy to achieve the benefits of correcting vision, and we can also use eye exercises to correct vision.

Corrected vision is relative to naked eye vision and is generally aimed at people with refractive errors. Uncorrected vision is your actual vision, while corrected vision is the vision obtained after using glasses to correct refractive errors. In other words, corrected vision is the vision after wearing glasses. Currently, there are three main methods for correcting refractive errors: wearing frame glasses, corneal contact lenses (OK lenses) and laser surgery. Wearing framed glasses is still the most commonly used method, but its disadvantage is that it affects the appearance. However, with the continuous advancement of technology, glasses frames are becoming lighter and lighter, and glasses lenses have developed from glass lenses to the currently widely used resin lenses. Wearing frame glasses is still the safest way to correct vision.

Medical methods

Orthokeratology lenses

Orthokeratology originated in the United States. After 50 years of development, it has been used in 34 countries around the world. Orthokeratology lenses are orthokeratology lenses designed with a special inverse geometry, and their inner surface is composed of multiple arc segments. The lens and the tear layer are unevenly distributed, and the resulting fluid dynamics effect changes the geometry of the cornea. When worn on the front of the cornea while sleeping, the corneal curvature gradually flattens and the eye axis shortens, thereby effectively preventing the development of myopia. It is known as "a technology that can control and correct myopia while sleeping."

Vision Correction Wearing Process

A standardized fitting procedure is the prerequisite for ensuring the effectiveness and safety of orthokeratology lenses during wearing. The entire process can be divided into the following stages according to the clinical standard procedure:

1) Wearer selection; 2) Eye health examination and record; 3) Standardized optometry; 4) Evaluation and adjustment of orthokeratology lenses;

5) Lens reservation and distribution; 6) Follow-up and problem handling;

Advantages of orthokeratology lenses for correcting vision

1. Vision can be improved in a short period of time.

2. It is effective in reducing the diopter of myopia, and you no longer need to wear glasses or contact lenses.

3. Easy to operate and use.

4. No risk, other eye functions are not affected.

5. It can inhibit the development of progressive myopia in adolescents.

6. It can meet the requirements of certain special occupations (such as athletes, divers, pilots, actors, students, soldiers, etc.) for long-distance vision.

Is orthokeratology safe for correcting myopia?

Early prevention, effective corrective treatment and effective control of adolescent myopia have become important topics in the field of optometry. Some doctors suggest that adolescent patients do not need to worry about the degree of myopia and can wait until they are over 18 years old to undergo corneal refractive surgery. This is actually a negative view. Because before the age of 18 is the period when myopia develops fastest and the learning burden is the heaviest, if no corrective control measures are taken, myopia can easily increase, especially for children with a family history of high myopia. The possibility of myopia increasing by 1.00D~2.00D each year is very high, and corneal refractive surgery is not an absolutely effective and safe method to cure myopia. There are many non-surgical methods for controlling the development of myopia. However, experts at home and abroad have repeatedly verified in clinical practice that wearing modern orthokeratology lenses has achieved relatively definite results.

Diet

1. Provide sufficient vitamin A: Vitamin A is an important raw material for the photosensitive substance of the eyes. It has the function of protecting the eyes and other epithelial tissues and indirectly resisting infection. Adequate vitamin A can increase the smoothness of the cornea of the eyes, making the eyes bright and looking radiant.

2. Supplement enough protein: Rhodopsin on the retina of the eye is composed of protein. When it is deficient, in addition to weak muscles, poor development, susceptibility to infection, edema, anemia, visual impairment may also occur. Therefore, children should be fed more foods with high protein content, such as lean meat, fish, milk, eggs and soy products.

3. Calcium and phosphorus are indispensable: Calcium and phosphorus can make the sclera tough and participate in the physiological activities of the optic nerve. When calcium and phosphorus are deficient, visual fatigue and distraction are likely to occur, which can easily lead to myopia.

4. Vitamins C, B1, and B2 are essential: Vitamin C is an important nutrient for the lens of the eye. Insufficient intake will cause cloudiness of the lens and is one of the important causes of cataracts. Foods rich in vitamin C include oranges, tangerines, grapefruits, tomatoes, various fruits and vegetables, etc. Fresh dates and kiwis are even richer in vitamin C. Vitamins B1 and B2 are important substances involved in the metabolism of nerve cells including the optic nerve. They also protect the palpebral conjunctiva, bulbar conjunctiva and cornea. They can also prevent and delay the formation of outer canthus and caudal wrinkles.

5. Trace elements cannot be ignored: Although the content of trace elements in the human body is less than one percent of body weight, they play a great role. Without them, metabolism would be difficult to carry out and children's health would be affected. Trace elements such as zinc, chromium, molybdenum, selenium, etc. are also involved in the metabolism of various substances in the eyes and regulate their physiological functions, and cannot be ignored.

Good eye habits

The posture for reading and writing should be correct, and you should take a break after reading for a long time. Do not read in dim light or direct sunlight, and do not read in bed, in a car, or while walking. The body is one fist away from the desk, the index finger is one inch away from the tip of the pen, and the eyes are one foot away from the desk.

Eye drops include eye drops and eye ointments, which come in many varieties, most of which are antibacterial and anti-inflammatory drugs or hormone-containing eye drops. For bacterial conjunctivitis and keratitis, we often use eye drops whose main ingredient is chloramphenicol.

It is best to see a doctor, eat more foods that are good for the eyes, and develop good habits.

Exercise Method

Eye-twist method

Choose a quiet place, sit or stand, relax your whole body, clear your mind, open your eyes, keep your head and neck still, and only move your eyeballs. First, look directly below, then slowly turn to the left, then to the top, to the right, and finally back to the bottom. In this way, turn clockwise 9 times. Then let your eyes move from gazing downwards, to the right, to the top, to the left, and then back downwards, and do this six times in a counterclockwise direction. Do this 4 times in total. With each movement, the eye should move as far as possible. This eye-rolling method can exercise the eye muscles, improve nutrition, and make the eyes flexible and bright.

Eye Breathing Concentration

Choose a place with fresh air, sit or stand, relax your whole body, look straight ahead, slowly inhale enough air, open your eyes wide, pause for a moment, then slowly exhale, slowly close your eyes, do this 9 times in a row.

Ironing eye method

It is best to do this method while sitting down, relax your whole body, close your eyes, then quickly rub your palms together to generate heat. Cover your eyes with both hands while they are still hot. After the heat dissipates, suddenly remove your hands and open your eyes at the same time. Do this 3 to 5 times. This can promote blood circulation in the eyes and enhance metabolism.

Eyewash

First disinfect the basin, pour in warm water, adjust the water temperature, put your face in the water, open your eyes in the water, move your eyeballs up and down, left and right 9 times each, and then rotate clockwise and counterclockwise 9 times. At first, when water enters the eyes, the eyes will feel extremely uncomfortable, but as the eyeballs move, the eyes will slowly feel very comfortable. If you feel difficulty breathing while doing this exercise, you may lift your face out of the basin and take a deep breath outside. This method can wash away harmful substances and dust in the eyes. It is also effective for mild cataracts and can improve the degree of refractive errors such as astigmatism, hyperopia and myopia.

Above we introduced the importance of vision to our human body. We must protect our eyesight. Once there is a problem with vision, we must choose some methods to correct it. There are many ways to correct vision. We can use medical methods to correct vision, or we can use diet therapy and exercise to correct vision.
