What causes thumb numbness?

What causes thumb numbness?

In life, our fingers can help us do many things, but sometimes we may experience numbness in our thumbs. If your fingers are subjected to high-intensity work or pressure from gravity, it is normal to experience numbness. However, if our thumb becomes numb for no reason, we should be alert to whether we have finger numbness disease.

Finger numbness is an independent disease caused by damage to the motor nerves of the limbs. It is mostly caused by hemiplegia caused by stroke, diabetes, neuritis, cervical spondylosis, lumbar spondylosis, etc. The tiny blood vessels around the motor nerve fibers are blocked, compressing the motor fibers, causing serious damage to the motor nerve fibers, reduced nerve conduction ability and conduction speed, and numbness of the hands and feet. In severe cases, it may develop into painful symptoms such as limb paralysis and muscle atrophy. Daily care for numb fingers

As long as you exercise your neck and upper limbs properly, the numbness and pain in your fingers will gradually be relieved. Exercise should be done gradually, start gently, then gradually increase the intensity, and be sure to persist. But be careful to avoid excessive or sudden movements that are too strong. In addition, you can continue acupuncture, physical therapy, taking vitamin B1, etc., and if necessary, cervical traction and other treatments can be performed, but it must be done under the guidance of a doctor.

Massage Methods for Numb Fingers

Pinch, press, twist and knead the inner and outer Laogong points

First, spread out the thumb and index finger of your right hand, and press the Laogong point on the palm of your left hand with your right thumb (between the second and third metacarpal bones of the palm. Make a fist, and this point is under the tip of your middle finger), and press the Laogong point on the back of your left hand with your right index finger (between the second and third metacarpal bones of the back of the hand, 0.5 inches behind the metacarpophalangeal joint). Use the thumb and index finger of your right hand to pinch, press, twist and rub the inner and outer Laogong points for 2-3 minutes. Then use your left hand to pinch, press, twist and rub the inner and outer Laogong points for 2-3 minutes.

Squeeze Ten Xuan

Shixuan (at the tips of the ten fingers, one fen away from the nails, there are 10 points in total on both hands). Alternate hands, spread out the index finger of one hand, and pinch both sides one by one, using all ten fingers for a total of 2-3 minutes.

Striking the Eight Evils

Baxie (at the ends of the webs between the first to fifth fingers, at the junction of the red and white flesh behind the webs, 8 points in total on both hands). Spread the ten fingers of both hands, palms facing inwards, and hit the palms of both hands hard at the same time, hitting and pushing apart, repeating this process for 2-3 minutes.

Press and knead the Neiwaiguan acupoints

First, spread out the thumb and index finger of your right hand, and press the Neiguan point on the left wrist (2 inches above the center of the wrist transverse line) with your right thumb, and press the Waiguan point on the back of the left wrist (2 inches above the wrist transverse line, between the ulna and radius) with your right index finger. Use the thumb and index finger of your right hand to pinch, press and rub the inner and outer gates of your right hand for 1-2 minutes. Then use your left hand to pinch, press and rub the inner and outer gates of your right hand for 1-2 minutes.

According to the meridian theory of traditional Chinese medicine, there are meridian points on the fingertips of each of the five fingers, and each is closely related to the internal organs. If one of the fingertips feels particularly painful, it means that the internal organ related to this meridian point has some problem.

Conversely, if you have some kind of problem with your body, you can also treat it by massaging your fingers.
