What are the precautions for otolithiasis?

Of course, special attention should be paid to the problem of otolithiasis. After repositioning treatment, the patient should sit quietly for half an hour to observe whether there are any adverse reactions. At the same time, he should avoid strenuous exercise, ensure adequate rest and sleep, eat a light diet, and avoid smoking and drinking.

1. Sit quietly for at least half an hour after reduction treatment.

Due to the displacement of otoliths during repositioning treatment, some patients may not react at the time, but may experience more severe vertigo reactions afterwards, and some patients may even vomit.

2. It is best to avoid lying flat within three days after reduction treatment. Avoid hairdressing and dental checkups within one week.

You can lie on your left side or your right side. This is because the otoliths that have been repositioned when lying flat may fall off again and cause recurrence of vertigo.

3. After reduction treatment, use a buckwheat husk pillow and a hard bed.

Buckwheat husk pillows are made of natural materials and have no obvious adverse reactions to the human body. More importantly, we turn over frequently during sleep. No matter what posture we are in, the buckwheat husk pillow can change with the changes in the shape of the head and neck, so that our cervical vertebrae can be supported and it is not easy to get a stiff neck. A hard bed allows us to get a better rest. Comfortable and effective sleep is very important to prevent otoliths from falling off.

4. Avoid strenuous exercise after reduction treatment.

In particular, movements such as lowering the head, shaking the head, and jumping can easily cause the otoliths to fall off again. Since vertigo may recur, dangerous activities such as climbing and swimming should be avoided until the otolithiasis recovers.

5. After reduction treatment, you must ensure adequate sleep, get plenty of rest, eat a light diet, and avoid smoking and drinking.

Lack of sleep, excessive fatigue, overeating of spicy, greasy, fried and other irritating foods, as well as smoking and drinking can easily induce otoliths to fall off again.
