The aorta is the most important blood vessel in the human body. Aortic atherosclerosis, a type of arteriosclerosis, may occur due to fat metabolism disorders. The cause of this disease is not very clear, but some causes are believed to easily cause aortic atherosclerosis. We should have a systematic understanding of this, which will help our prevention and response. So, what is aortic atherosclerosis? Let’s take a look below. Aortic atherosclerosis, most of the time there are no specific severe symptoms. During percussion, it can be found that the aortic dullness area behind the sternal manubrium is widened; the second heart sound in the aortic valve area is hyperactive and has a metallic tone, and there is a systolic murmur. The systolic blood pressure is increased, the pulse pressure is widened, and the radial artery palpation may be similar to a rapid pulse. Ordinary X-ray examination shows that the aortic knot bulges to the upper left, the aorta is dilated and twisted, and sometimes calcium deposits can be seen in flake-like or arc-shaped plaques. Aortic atherosclerosis can also form aortic aneurysms, which are most common in the abdominal aorta below the renal artery opening, followed by the aortic arch and descending aorta. Abdominal aortic aneurysm is usually discovered during a physical examination when a pulsating mass is found in the abdomen and a murmur can be heard in the corresponding part of the abdominal wall. The cause of this disease is not fully understood. It is currently believed that the disease is caused by multiple factors acting at different links. These factors are called susceptibility factors or risk factors. The main ones are: ① Age: more common in middle-aged and elderly people over 40 years old. The disease progresses faster after the age of 49, but young and middle-aged people may also have early lesions. ② Gender: It is more common in males, with a male-to-female ratio of about 2:1. It is more common in females after menopause. ③ Hyperlipidemia: increased total cholesterol, low-density lipoprotein (LDL), triglycerides, very low-density lipoprotein (VLDL), apolipoprotein B100, and lipoprotein (α) (Lp (α)), and decreased high-density lipoprotein (HDL), apolipoprotein AI and AⅡ are all risk factors. ④ Hypertension: 60% to 70% of patients with coronary atherosclerosis have hypertension. The incidence of coronary atherosclerosis in hypertensive patients is 4 times higher than that in people with normal blood pressure, and both systolic depression and diastolic blood pressure increase are important. ⑤ Smoking: Smoking increases the incidence and mortality of coronary atherosclerosis by 2 to 6 times, and is directly proportional to the number of cigarettes smoked per day. ⑥ Diabetes: The incidence of atherosclerosis in diabetic patients is twice as high as that in people without diabetes, and impaired glucose tolerance is quite common in patients with coronary atherosclerosis. The less serious ones are: ① Occupation: People who engage in jobs that require little physical activity, intense mental activity, and a frequent sense of urgency are more likely to develop this disease. ②Diet: People who often consume high-calorie foods, more animal fat, cholesterol, sugar and salt are prone to this disease. The Western diet is an important factor in causing the disease. ③ Obesity: Obese people who exceed the standard weight are prone to this disease, especially those who gain weight rapidly. ④ Type A personality: People who are highly enterprising and competitive, focus on work but not on rest, have an impatient temperament, and force themselves to strive for success are prone to this disease. ⑤ Trace element intake: Insufficient chromium, manganese, zinc, vanadium, and selenium, and excessive lead, cadmium, and cobalt are risk factors. ⑥ Heredity: If there is someone in the family who suffered from the disease at a younger age, the chance of his or her close relatives getting the disease can be 5 times that of a family without this condition. Some people believe that this disease is a multi-gene hereditary cardiovascular disease. Familial hyperlipidemia caused by autosomal dominant inheritance is often a predisposing factor for this disease, while hypertension and diabetes, which are predisposing factors for this disease, also have genetic influences. Other factors that increase vascular permeability include hypoxia, the effects of antigen-antibody complexes, vitamin C deficiency, and reduced activity of enzymes within the arterial wall. Vitamin A and E deficiency and increased iron storage are also considered to be the cause of this disease. In recent years, it has been suggested that cytomegalovirus infection may also be related to this disease. Over the past half century, the incidence of this disease has gradually increased significantly in Europe and the United States, and by the late 1960s it had become a common epidemic disease. In some countries and regions, heart disease caused by coronary atherosclerosis has become the leading cause of death among the population. After the 1970s, the incidence of this disease has shown a downward trend due to the adoption of preventive measures. In the past, this disease was rare in my country. In recent years, with the development of people's health care, many diseases have been controlled, the average life expectancy of the people has increased, and the living standards have improved. The incidence of this disease has increased relatively and absolutely, and it has now become one of the main causes of death among the population. |
