The biggest feature of postpartum rheumatism is pain, which can occur in the joints, skin, and muscles. Once cold bone wind occurs, it is difficult to treat and may even cause lifelong troubles to many women. So, how to treat cold bone wind? Let’s take a look at the method below.

1. Keep warm after delivery

Pregnant women will sweat a lot after giving birth, whether they give birth on their own or by cesarean section. At this time, they must avoid being blown directly by the wind. The best way is to cool down naturally. If it is at night, you should also pay attention to keeping the pregnant woman warm to prevent her from catching a cold when the temperature drops at night.

2. Get enough rest

Pay attention to nutrition. Pregnant women consume a lot of physical energy during childbirth. It is recommended that you rest in bed for 24 hours, ensure adequate sleep after delivery, and get out of bed and move around the next day. Pregnant women should avoid exerting excessive force when doing activities. They can move their bodies moderately but avoid over-tiredness. They are prohibited from engaging in physical labor during the confinement period, especially activities that increase abdominal pressure, such as squatting for a long time or lifting heavy objects.

3. Don’t over-moisten your joints

Maintain a good mood. Any slight stimulation before delivery will cause problems after delivery, so you must not over-move your joints within 2 to 3 weeks after delivery. Get more rest and exercise naturally. Be careful not to catch a cold after exercise and don't over-fatigue.

4. Keep calm and stable, don't get angry or anxious.

5. The most important thing to note is that sexual intercourse between husband and wife is absolutely prohibited during the confinement period.

Can postpartum rheumatism be cured?

Regarding postpartum rheumatism, Western medicine generally classifies it as joint pain, for which Western medicine has no drugs or methods to treat it.

Traditional Chinese medicine has a history of more than 3,000 years in treating postpartum rheumatism. In addition to the method of removing evil and curing arthritis, it also pays attention to invigorating qi and nourishing blood, tonifying the liver and kidneys. It believes that medicines should be tonic but not too stagnant, wind medicines should not be too pungent, dampness-eliminating medicines should not be too harsh and dry, and blood and flesh medicines should be affectionate but not too greasy. The treatment method commonly used is nourishing blood, activating blood circulation, warming the meridians, dispersing cold and removing dampness. At the same time, nourishing blood is the main focus, while slightly promoting blood circulation. Do not use strong wind-clearing drugs.

Patients may need acupuncture, massage, medicated diet and other treatments at the same time to achieve a synergistic effect. You need to improve your physical fitness through exercise to prevent recurrence.

If postpartum rheumatism is treated properly, the symptoms can be basically relieved in 1-3 months and can be cured, but it will relapse, so good maintenance is required.
