Leaves: Mainly used to treat red and white dysentery, intestinal wind, carbuncles and sores. Stem bark or root bark: Mainly used to treat diarrhea due to damp heat, intestinal wind and bloody diarrhea, rectal prolapse, hemorrhoids, leucorrhea, vaginal trichomoniasis, skin scabies, and scrotal eczema. Fruit: Mainly used to treat cough with phlegm, bronchitis, migraine, impetigo and eczema. Root: Mainly used to treat intestinal wind, dysentery, lung abscess, intestinal abscess, swollen and painful hemorrhoids, leucorrhea, scabies, and pulmonary tuberculosis. Flowers: For internal use: decoction, 3-9 grams, 30-60 grams for fresh ones. For external use: Apply appropriate amount, grind into powder or mash fresh product for application.

1. Coughing up blood: 30 grams of fresh hibiscus flowers, 15 grams of rock sugar. Decoction in water. (Fujian Pharmacopoeia)

2. Diabetes: 30-60 grams of hibiscus root. Decoction in water and drink regularly instead of tea. (Fujian folk herbal medicine)

3. Single-ingredient prescription

1. To treat dysentery: 30g each of hibiscus flower and rock sugar, decocted in water and taken once a day.

2. Treatment of hemorrhoid bleeding: decocted 15 grams of hibiscus flowers in water.

3. To treat dysentery: decocted 15g hibiscus flowers in water and taken with honey. Use safflower for dysentery and white flower for white dysentery. Avoid sour and allow to cool.

4. To treat wind-heat eye diseases: decocted 15-30g of hibiscus flowers in water.

5. Treatment of leucorrhea: 15 grams each of hibiscus flower, Patrinia salsa, and Celosia crescentus, 1 dose per day, decocted in water, and taken in 2 doses.

6. Treatment of edema: decocted 30g each of fresh hibiscus root and rush, taken before meals, twice a day.

7. To treat impetigo: grind hibiscus bark into powder, mix with vinegar and stew it until it becomes glue-like, then apply it on the affected area.
