Symptoms of thrush, a must-read for mothers

Thrush is a common disease in babies. It is a type of oral ulcer. Babies will cry when they suffer from thrush because it is very painful when they feed. The main symptom of thrush is the destruction of the oral mucosa, which causes the appearance of some white spots.

Candida albicans can also be found in the mouths of healthy people, but usually does not cause disease. If the mother's vagina is infected with fungi, the baby is likely to be infected and become ill during delivery. Thrush is most common in infants under 2 years old. Poor oral hygiene will increase the chance of induction.

When thrush occurs, the patient will show milky white, slightly raised plaques on the oral mucosa. The plaques vary in size, with no inflammatory reaction around them and no pain. After removing the plaque membrane, there is no bleeding and a red wound can be seen. It often occurs on the tongue, palate, inner mucosa of the lips and cheeks.

When the infection is mild, there is no obvious pain. The patient will only show pain when eating, and white spots are not easy to find. In severe cases, there will be obvious pain, which will affect eating. The child will cry, have difficulty breastfeeding, and sometimes have a mild fever.

The main clinical manifestation of thrush is the growth of a milky white film on the oral mucosa in the baby's mouth. Sometimes, these white films cannot be seen if parents do not observe carefully. Because these white films are sometimes dot-shaped and adults cannot see them.

Gradually, the white film will grow larger and larger, forming clumps, and it will be easier to find at this time. If parents use something to wipe the white film, they will find that it cannot be wiped off at all. If you try to wipe it off forcefully, it will bleed. So be sure to observe carefully.

In addition to the condition of white film growing in the mouth, some babies also have poor appetite in clinical manifestations. They cry non-stop when eating and find it very difficult to feed. Some babies also have some mild fever at the same time. Careful mothers should be able to feel their baby's discomfort.
